Description Mortenson is currently seeking an experiencedSenior Design Phase Manager/Senior Preconstruction Managerto join our Solar Groupwith the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.Aptitude to anticipate problems, critical issues, and opportunities as they arise; along with the capability to creatively problem-solve and bring together viable solutions.Excellent written and verbal communications skills are vital, with attention to detail equally important.The Design Phase Manager will ensure the owner's vision is translated into design solutions and construction parameters through leadership of the design process and team members.May work on two projects simultaneously or one larger project.This is the perfect opportunity for someone who is looking to embark on a career journey within a growing company, where you'll get to use your business acumen, project and people leadership, technical, and relationship building skills to lead impactful design projects from the ground up.Travel:must be flexibleLocations:MN, TX, CA, FLRESPONSIBILITIESLead project team during design phase to ensure customer experience, financial performance, and smooth transition to construction.Achieve scope, budget, and schedule alignment; ensure construction readiness.Establish and manage project budget, scope expectations, and budget trending logs.Create and manage project schedules and key milestones; hold team accountable.Obtain regulatory approvals and permits.Align design documents with project execution plan.Handle bid packages and contract manuals.Resolve technical design and specification concerns.Develop or review project margin plans; minimize risk and enhance opportunities.Act as primary contact with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners.Monitor and measure project success factors.Foster an integrated team experience with clear roles and communication.Facilitate designer selection and contracting for design-build projects.Mentor and guide design phase team members for career growth.Develop and present project proposals.Build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.Lead by example, provide coaching and feedback, and manage performance for a team of 1-3 design phase managers.Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Construction Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Estimating, or equivalent fieldMinimum of 10 years of related experienceMinimum of 8 years relevant experienceRisk management skillsMicrosoft Office, project and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate levelActive listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedbackStrong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skillsDetail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasksBasic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practicesAbility to interpret and communicate Mortenson policiesAbility to travel up to 50%Valid driver's licenseSolar experience preferredA few benefits offered include:(for Non-Craft & Non-Union Craft working 25+ hours / week)Medical and prescription drug plans that includes no additional cost vision coverageDental plan401k retirement plan with a generous Mortenson matchPaid time off, holidays, and other paid leavesEmployer paid Life, AD&D, and disability insuranceNo-Cost mental health tool and concierge with extensive work-life resourcesTuition reimbursementAdoption AssistanceGym Membership Discount ProgramThe base pay range for this role is $140,800 MIN - $211,200 MAX.(Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.Visa sponsorship is not offered for this position.Our postings are typically open a minimum of 5 days and an average of 44 days.ABOUT MORTENSONAs a top builder, developer, and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction), our expertise spans markets like sports, renewable energy, data centers, healthcare, and more.
