Job Summary The Department of Library and Information Studies in the Dewar College of Education and Human Services invites applications for a limited term faculty position for the 2025-2026 academic year beginning August 1, 2025, through May 11, 2026. Position is non-tenure track with rank of Assistant Professor. Position may be considered for remote work. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the candidate's area of expertise and providing service at the department, college and university levels. Responsibilities Department Summary This position is responsible for teaching graduate courses in library and information science in a fully online, asynchronous learning environment using the institutions online learning platform, currently BrightSpace by D2L. The teaching expectation is anticipated to be a 4/4 load. Team teaching and course development opportunities are possibilities as well. Typical Allocation of Duties: Teaching and scholarship - 80% Teaches classes and conducts/presents research in the employee's academic discipline. Service - 20% Participates in service at the department, college, and university levels. Required Qualifications Earned doctorate in Library and Information Studies or closely related field (PhD or Ed.D.). Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. Online higher education course teaching experience. Preferred Qualifications MLIS, MLS, or equivalent professional degree from an accredited library and information science graduate degree program. Demonstrated experience teaching the organization of information, cataloging, classification, and/or metadata. Experience teaching online graduate MLIS courses. Professional work experience in a library or information center, especially in the area of technical services. Experience in mentoring or advising students. Familiarity with adult learning styles. Commitment to service in an academic setting. Proposed Salary Commensurate with experience.
