Job Description Position Title: Assistant Chief Engineer Department: Engineering FLSA: Exempt Typically Reports To: Director of Property Operations The Assistant Chief Engineer is an essential member of the team. This role aids the Director of Facilities by ensuring the completion of repairs and maintenance duties, as well as administrative tasks in a timely and accurate manner. We are seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer to provide support to the team with their skills and professionalism. This role will include a wide variety of maintenance and administrative functions. Employee hotel discount, Complimentary car Parking(onsite) 401k 5% match, Paid Time off Vision Insurance, Dental and Medical insurance, FSA spending account Complimentary employee meals and Bus transit reimbursement ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Job duties include, although are not limited to: Performing clerical duties such as typing, filing, copying, emailing, answering and responding to telephone calls and messages Coordinates meetings and recording minutes Preparing and distributing departmental communications Parts and office supply procurement administration Maintaining all records of facilities licenses and permits to operate including renewal administration Ensures accurate logs and records for maintenance equipment Computerized maintenance management system administration Assist in recruiting, scheduling interviews, and training for new hires Supporting the department with time management on execution of projects Unifying and maintaining all internal documents Responding to visitor and guest requests, questions, and concerns Facilitating resolution when possible or referring individuals to the appropriate manager Ensuring all office equipment, printers, and phones are maintained and fully functional Management of preventive maintenance programs for machinery and systems. Verify timely completion of routine maintenance on guestrooms, public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, kitchens, back of the house spaces, laundry, and grounds. Conduct walk-throughs and visually assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure of the hotel, all mechanical, electrical (HVAC systems) and other related equipment. Supervise repairs and maintenance vendors throughout the hotel. Assign engineers to make electrical, carpentry, plumbing, plastering, painting, locksmith and other mechanical installations and repairs. Adhere to all corporate-required purchasing policies and controls, including but not limited to all outside contractor bids, budgets and schedules. Follow prescribed safety procedures for personnel and equipment by the company and OSHA Oversee daily and weekly payroll Prepare departmental manpower schedules Manage shift operations, assign work orders, and provide training to engineers. Maintain inventory of PPE, supplies and tools, ordering necessary materials to complete all tasks. Responds 24-7 to emergency situations, requesting extra help if needed. Participate in the employee performance appraisal process, providing feedback as needed. Other duties as assigned by Director of Property Operations and upper management team QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED; 4 years' experience in engineering and maintenance or related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing. Hotel experience a plus Strong customer service skills Must have intermediate skills with Microsoft Office products; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, CMMS and BMS skills preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills required Knowledge of hotel maintenance, housekeeping, and F&B operations preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Position requires exerting well-paced mobility as well as the ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks. Must be able to lift up to 15-40 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis. Requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing.
