Job Type Full-time Description The Shift Supervisor will be responsible for directing on-site janitorial staff, ensuring compliance with company policies, contract duties, and maintaining customer/client satisfaction. Under limited supervision, functions as the site Shift Supervisor and overseas custodial operations and daily staff activities in a large commercial or government facility. Employees in this position perform a variety of all functions to assure facilities are clean and free of safety hazards. This job requires knowledge of custodial practices, equipment, supplies and procedures, and the ability to work with various personalities and/or physically challenged adults. Reports to: Site Manager Typical duties: Schedules and oversees custodial staff to perform maintenance and cleaning services in a large facility. Monitors Client Call/Alerts during shift to maintain established quality/safety standards. Assures employees follow all rules and regulations of Company and Facility. Reports infractions and supports discipline process. Prioritizes and assigns tasks and coaches staff in performing duties. Inspects work areas on a regular basis, including outside grounds to ensure quality Trains and assists staff in performing duties, and in a safe and proper use of cleaning products, scrubbers, bumpers, and other custodial equipment to make quality and safety standards. Overseas cleaning and maintenance of custodial equipment on a regular basis to ensure proper operation and safe condition. Distribute, maintain, Inventory - quantities of supplies and stock in support of custodial staff. Frequent travel between facilities or buildings may be required. Communicating and reporting Service deficiencies, Equipment malfunctions, documenting Injury/Property reports, Inspections and Retention/Liability Logs to your Shift Supervisor. Monitoring building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking and unlocking gates, doors, compactors as appropriate observing established security guidelines for assigned location. Any and all other duties as assigned in writing or verbally by Supervisor. Requirements Professional Requirements: Adhere to dress code, appearance is neat and clean. Complete monthly/annual safety training requirements. Report to work on time and as scheduled. Wear identification while on duty. Maintain regulatory requirements; state, federal and local regulations. Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times. Comply with all policies and standards regarding ethical business practices. Communicate the mission, ethics and goals of the organization. Participate in performance and continuous quality improvement activities. Attend regular staff and safety meetings. Minimum Qualifications (Education/Experience):Required - High School Diploma Preferred - 1-3 years of Janitor/Custodian or janitorial/custodian experience. Preferred - 1-3 years of experience operating floor care or motorized equipment. Knowledge of departmental operations, procedures, and organizational policies; Knowledge of specialized departmental equipment including that is used in custodial services including scrubbers and buffers. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and present information and respond to questions from clients, customers and others. Ability to train employees in proper departmental practices and procedures, including safety and proper use of tools and equipment. Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities. Listening skills - strong active listening skills help Shift Supervisors follow instructions clearly and understand what is required of them before beginning a task. Attention to detail - Shift Supervisors ensure that the area they are managing is cleaned thoroughly, so attention to detail is a key aspect of the role Time management - this job requires the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner and to set schedules, so applicants need good time management skills Physical stamina - Shift Supervisors spend most of their workday on their feet, operating cleaning equipment so good physical strength and stamina is a must Mechanical skills - this job involves using, driving and charging floor cleaning equipment and tools, so applicants must be familiar with mechanical equipment Certificates required: N/APhysical Requirements:Employees may experience the following physical demands during their work shift;Standing and/or walking (75 - 80%)Bending, kneeling, squatting, and/or stooping.Pulling or Pushing Carts or Flatbeds.Exposure to wind, rain, cold, and heatDisclaimer: The above information on this description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this job category.
