We are seeking an experienced Director of Compliance to lead and enhance our compliance framework, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and mitigating risks across our operations. This role is critical in shaping the compliance strategy as we scale and navigate complex financial regulations. Location & Work Authorization This role can be performed remotely; however, we prefer candidates based in Atlanta, GA, as the team prefers to meet in person once a week. If you are not located in Atlanta, you must work East Coast 8am- 5pm to ensure alignment with team collaboration and meeting schedules. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. | Sponsorship and Corp-to-Corp arrangements are not available. As our Director of Compliance, you will: Ensure the company complies with financial regulations such as CFPB, AML, KYC, GDPR, SEC, and other applicable laws. Monitor and interpret regulatory changes, ensuring company policies and practices remain current. Develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls to align with industry best practices. Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, auditors, and external compliance stakeholders. Establish and maintain an effective risk management framework, with a focus on fraud prevention, AML, cybersecurity, and financial crime. Conduct compliance risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies. Oversee transaction monitoring and suspicious activity reporting (SAR), ensuring compliance with AML obligations. Lead internal compliance audits to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements. Investigate compliance breaches and oversee corrective action plans. Maintain comprehensive records of compliance activities, audits, and incident reports for transparency and accountability. Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees, leadership, and key stakeholders. Foster a culture of compliance and ethical business practices throughout the organization. Draft, review, and update internal policies and procedures to ensure regulatory alignment and operational efficiency. Monitor and assess customer complaints to identify regulatory risks, compliance gaps, and trends requiring corrective action. Establish escalation protocols for high-risk complaints, ensuring proper investigation and resolution. Serve as the primary escalation point for complex or regulatory-related complaints. Provide regular complaints trend analysis and insights to senior leadership, driving policy improvements and operational enhancements. Collaborate with legal, operations, and product teams to integrate compliance best practices into new products, services, and partnerships. Partner with product, engineering, and operations teams to ensure compliance is embedded into technical solutions. Engage with external legal counsel, regulators, and industry groups to stay ahead of emerging compliance trends. Support third-party vendor and partner due diligence to assess compliance risks. What makes you a great fit: 7+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs within the fintech, banking, or financial services industry. Strong knowledge of financial regulations, including AML, KYC, GDPR, CFPB, SEC, and relevant consumer protection laws. Experience leading compliance programs in a startup or fast-scaling environment is highly desirable. Strong understanding of Metro 2 credit reporting standards and experience ensuring accurate and compliant data submission to credit bureaus. Manage and oversee credit bureau dispute resolution processes, ensuring compliance with FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) and CFPB regulations. Proven ability to work cross-functionally with product, engineering, legal, and operations teams.
