Position SummaryPower Scholars Academy (PSA) is a summer program designed to prevent learning loss and provide academic support. It serves K-8 students from San Francisco and San Mateo County, helping them strengthen their academic foundation as well as social-emotional and critical thinking skills. Students participate in daily math and literacy instruction with credentialed teachers for three hours a day, four days a week, to address learning gaps and prepare for the upcoming school year. The PSA Program Manager will lead the development of a high-performing summer program team, ensuring effective collaboration while overseeing the program's educational quality. This role is responsible for implementing the program model and creating a positive and supportive learning environment for scholars. The Program Manager will collaborate closely with the Association Program Lead, branch and district leadership, and BellXcel partners to build strong relationships, achieve program goals, and identify opportunities for program expansion and long-term sustainability. The program will run from June 9 to July 31, 2025, with specific dates varying by district site. Training will begin on May 17, 2025, and will include sessions tailored to the program and individual training needs. Job ResponsibilitiesPre-Program Planning and Support Collaborate on summer program planning, staff recruitment, site enrollment, and family events. Ensure timely receipt and distribution of curriculum, supplies, and materials. Deliver on-site training with the Instructional Coach and site leadership. Program Management Achieve program goals for each scholar while managing staff performance and maintaining proper staffing ratios. Coordinate events, field trips, guest speakers, and community service projects. Oversee budget management, resource allocation, and the use of data-driven instruction. Collaborate with the Instructional Coach to ensure effective teaching and student engagement. Implement a behavior management system aligned with all relevant requirements and ensure scholars' health and safety. Ensure compliance with all regulations. Developing Partnerships Serve as the primary liaison between PSA and scholars' families. Build and maintain relationships with school district administrators, parents, and other key stakeholders. Leadership and Staff Support Lead with enthusiasm, creativity, and respect for all staff, scholars, and families. Supervise staff, providing coaching, feedback, and conflict mediation when needed. Facilitate staff meetings and training and ensure compliance with YMCA policies. Camp Operations and Facility Management Manage day-to-day program operations and oversee facility maintenance, including safety, security, and transportation. Ensure camp spaces are clean, organized, and well-maintained. Communication and Parent Relations Foster positive communication with staff, scholars, and families, ensuring accurate information is shared. Address parent concerns promptly and manage youth behavior issues as needed. Additional Responsibilities Assist with the Summer Camp Campaign and coordinate the camper survey process. Work Environment & Physical Demands The work environment is primarily in a classroom or community-based setting, with frequent interactions with children, staff, and parents. The role requires occasional travel between program sites and involves working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Physical demands may include standing for extended periods, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds, and facilitating activities with children. The position may require flexibility and adaptability to changing program needs and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Salary Description The hourly rate for the PSA Teacher position ranges from $24.00 to $28.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with industry salary benchmarks. This rate is determined in accordance with grant funding approvals and organizational compensation guidelines, ensuring equity and competitiveness within the field. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 2+ years of experience in education or community-based youth programs, particularly in elementary settings. Passion for improving educational opportunities for children in under-resourced communities. Experience working with diverse urban communities and managing out-of-school time programs. Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams of varying levels. Ability to build effective relationships with parents, administrators, staff, and scholars. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organizational abilities. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in Education or a related field, or equivalent experience. Certification or training in Education Administration or related areas.
