Wage: $21.95 DOE + DOQ + $2 graveyard differential (between the hours of 12:00am - 8:00am) Shift: 4:00 pm - 12:30 am Saturday - Wednesday or Wednesday - Sunday Preferred Qualifications: High School diploma or GED strongly preferred but not required. Two years of social services experience; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred but not required. Knowledge of and experience in using trauma-informed care principles required. Demonstrated experience in mediation between persons exhibiting escalated behavior required. Essential Job Duties Include (But Not Limited To): Provide calm, decisive leadership to team members while on shift. Monitor schedules to ensure staff & volunteers are reporting to their assigned shifts, taking breaks, and documenting incidents. Communicate staffing, guest or safety concerns proactively with Shelter Manager. Be the first point of contact for service providers, community partners, emergency responders coming on-site. Develop relationships with shelter guests. Ensure guests are checked-in/out of the shelter by reception staff. Verify forms are being completed accurately. Review and answer questions from guests about the participant agreement. Responsible for communicating updates to their shift team during transition times, including producing meeting minutes for staff to sign. Post relevant updates to homebase and the pass down log. Oversee guest hospitality including: food, belongings, location, directions and clarifying expectations. Respond to guest questions about clothing, snacks, blankets, restrooms, charging stations/locations, and local resources. Use trauma-informed care principles whenever possible when interacting with staff and residents. Assist other staff and volunteers in providing a calm and safe environment for guests. This may include checking restroom activity or monitoring door and/or parking lot activity, or handing out supplies. Carry out shelter protocols and emergency procedures in the event of an incident. Attend required training and learn policies and procedures for shelter operations. Oversee the inventory of site supplies with the maintenance of a supply form. Mentor staff & volunteers when necessary. Show up on time for scheduled shifts. Check Homebase at least once per shift. Check email at least once per shift. Work environment: Close quarters with vulnerable people including individuals without stable living situations who may be struggling with mental health and substance use concerns. Indoor/Outdoor work environment with frequent interruptions and demands, and occasional unpredictable behavior. Going up and down stairs multiple times a shift. Standing / walking the majority of shift. Must be able to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds or less. $21.95 - $21.95 an hour Work environment: Close quarters with vulnerable people including individuals without stable living situations who may be struggling with mental health and substance use concerns.
