Job Type Full-time Description Marietta, GA Job Summary: The Startup and Commissioning Technician is responsible for the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of new equipment, systems, and facilities. This role involves ensuring that all systems function according to design specifications and operational standards. The technician works closely with engineers, contractors, and operations teams to ensure that equipment is installed, started up, and operating optimally. Key Responsibilities: Pre-Commissioning Activities: Review equipment manuals, drawings, and installation specifications to familiarize yourself with systems and components. Assist in the preparation of commissioning plans and schedules, oordinating with relevant departments. Verify that equipment and systems are installed according to design and in compliance with safety regulations. Perform pre-commissioning checks to ensure that equipment is ready for startup, such as verifying wiring, piping, and electrical connections. Startup and Commissioning: Participate in the system startup process, ensuring that all equipment is powered up and operating within expected parameters. Conduct functional tests and troubleshoot any issues during the startup phase. Verify control system functionality and perform system calibration as needed. Perform system and equipment tests to confirm performance metrics, including flow rates, pressures, temperatures, and electrical outputs. Provide detailed feedback on system performance, identifying potential adjustments and improvements to meet design specifications. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during startup or commissioning, coordinating with engineering teams when necessary. Document and report any non-conformance or performance deviations, suggesting corrective actions. Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and maintain a focus on safety during all commissioning activities. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal company policies and industry standards. Identify potential hazards in the system and propose safety solutions during testing and commissioning phases. Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, operations, and project management teams to ensure the successful and timely startup of systems. Provide technical guidance and support to other team members, contractors, or third-party vendors during commissioning activities. Participate in team meetings and provide progress updates on commissioning tasks. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of commissioning activities, test results, and system performance. Prepare and submit commissioning reports, highlighting key outcomes, deviations, and corrective actions taken. Document lessons learned and contribute to process improvements for future commissioning activities. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma Experience: Proven experience in commissioning, startup, or maintenance of industrial equipment, electrical systems, or large-scale facilities. Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and testing of systems, including mechanical, electrical, and control systems. Experience in the oil & gas, energy, manufacturing, or construction sectors is highly desirable. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, control systems (e.g., PLCs, SCADA), and instrumentation. Proficiency with diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and software for system analysis. Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, OSHA, NEC). Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system manuals. Personal Skills: Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed procedures. Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
