Saint Louis University (SLU) School of Medicine and SSM Health's SLUCare Physician Group seek an accomplished physician leader to serve as the Department Chair of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health (OB/GYN). The department provides comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological care to women of the greater St. Louis metropolitan area as well as Southern Illinois. The department faculty are excellent physicians and educators, and many are engaged in unique, recognized research activities in women's health. The mission of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health is to achieve excellence in: Professional education including undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education, allied health professional education, and patient and community education. Patient care, which encompasses primary comprehensive health care needs of women, and full spectrum specialty services with expertise in every single aspect of obstetrics and gynecology. Research including biological investigation, clinical research and health services research. Key Responsibilities The Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is responsible for the strategic leadership and management of the Department functions, including education, research, and clinical services. Establish a vision for the Department and effectively communicate how it contributes to the success of the School of Medicine, the profession, and the health of the community. Provide medical staff leadership for the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health to ensure the highest quality patient outcomes, strategic growth, and operational efficiency. Provide career support infrastructure and mentoring for medical students and post-graduate trainees with a focus on performance on national examinations and facilitating the transition to residency positions or first-job opportunities. Drive initiatives in clinical and translational research. This Chair and faculty position with the SSM Health SLUCare Physician Group at Saint Louis University School of Medicine is open to those who can successfully apply for and complete the hiring protocols of SSM Health. The clinical duties associated with this position will be performed as a member of the SSM Health SLUCare Physician Group. The Chair position will be wholly employed by SSM Health. The Chair education and research leadership role and academic rank is designated within and supported by SLU School of Medicine. Education and Licensure MD/DO or equivalent. Must hold current Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Must be eligible for an unrestricted Missouri state medical license.
