Summary of Position The Event Manager is responsible for supporting events and activities that lead to the attraction and expansion of businesses in the state. These events include tradeshows, sponsorships, announcements, and special events. Responsibilities include event planning and execution, project planning, organizing and tracking information, leading logistics, and productive interaction with JobsOhio network partners, vendors and community partners. Duties and Responsibilities The Manager will be expected to own events from end-to-end. This role requires excellent relationship management skills, the ability to work cross-functionally on multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment with superior project management skills. Plan, coordinate, execute, promote and manage all aspects of small and large-scale events including tradeshows, special events, groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings and sponsored events that align with Ohio and JobsOhio marketing brand standardsManage events across a diverse range of sectors, including healthcare, IT, financial services, advanced manufacturing, military and federal etc. Organize and plan logistics including securing a location for events, negotiation of contracts, arranging for audio-visual needs, room set-up and event flow, selection and monitoring of catering, and other arrangements as needed. Manage budgets, agendas, invitations, timelines, and run of show for events. On-site management of meetings and events as needed. Analyze events upon completion for process and execution improvements. Qualifications Experience Requirements 7 to 10 years of event planning, strong preference in a business setting (corporate events and sponsorships experience within various sectors such as healthcare, IT, financial services, advanced manufacturing, etc., a plus) Proficiency with Microsoft Office Strong Project Management leadership and skills At least 1 year of registration management experience Ability to think strategically and act tactically, proficient in managing multiple tasks and deadlines concurrently. Skilled at moving from one project to the next quickly and with a sense of urgency and can manage multiple projects simultaneously. Skilled at problem solving and able to identify and react quickly to issues on-site with tact. Excellent time-management and organizational skills Excellent written English and verbal communication skills Experience managing budgets and vendor contract negotiations Strong presentation, listening and communication skills Effective at building relationships and collaborating with stakeholders Ability to manage challenging situations and stakeholders, including vendor relationships Strong attention to detail Capable of independent and strategic thinking Engaged, flexible, motivated and success driven Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field.
