About the Office: The Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ) advises the Mayor of the City of New York on criminal justice policy. MOCJ develops and implements strategies, with partners inside and outside government, to reduce crime and incarceration and to promote fairness and legitimacy. MOCJ works with law enforcement, city agencies, non-profits, foundations, and others to implement data-driven strategies that address current crime conditions, prevent offending, and build the strong neighborhoods that ensure enduring safety.About the Role: The Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ) is looking for a SharePoint - Power BI Developer to develop and support SharePoint, Power BI, O365 and Visual Studio applications. This role will also provide data management and dashboarding technical support and perform business analyst roles throughout the MOCJ Technology Services department.As a SharePoint - Power BI Developer, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of new end user applications and tools for data consumption and visualization. In the application technical support role, the SharePoint - Power BI Developer will maintain existing applications, dashboards, provide post implementation support to applications, workflows and data tools and provide training when required.As a data manager, you will apply statistical and machine learning models to analyze large datasets from multiple sources such as criminal justice databases, case management systems, and public data to help research units derive actionable insights that help shape MOCJ's policies and programs. As a business analyst, this person will evaluate business requirements and will design customized applications and tools.Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Data Engineering & Analytics:Develop and maintain data pipelines that transform raw data into structured, usable formats for analysis. Work with engineering teams to integrate data from disparate sources and ensure smooth flow of information. Collaborate with MOCJ's Policy & Justice Innovation research teams to understand their research objectives and assist in translating data into insights that are aligned with the agency's social science research goals. Predictive Analytics & Forecasting: Utilize predictive modeling techniques to forecast trends in criminal justice, such as recidivism rates, case outcomes, or public safety risks. Data Visualization & Reporting: Create dashboards and reports that communicate complex findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders, using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.Applications and Coding:Provide technical expertise and support MOCJ in the software development and maintenance. Develop software applications leveraging Power BI, SharePoint, Visual Studio and O365. Develop scripts leveraging Java, Python and C#. Conduct software testing to ensure quality and functionality. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop technical solutions that meet client requirements. Build reusable, scalable, and high-performance code.Database Administration:Provides basic database design, support and troubleshooting. Responsible for standards and design of data storage, maintenance, access and security administration. Provides and maintains documentation and manuals necessary at operational level. Constructs operational RDBMS and data stores that enable informational, analytical management inquiry. Performs backup and recovery on database management systems, configures database parameters, and prototype designs.PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR RESUME AND COVER LETTERMinimum Qualifications Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university? Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities? Do you have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent approved by a state's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question "2" above? Do you have a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions "1," "2," and/or "3" above?Preferred Skills - Experience developing and calling web service APIs. - Experience with SharePoint online development tools and SPFx. - Experience developing custom forms and workflows in SharePoint online. - Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server. - Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, PPS. - Experience working as a BI Data Engineer on at least one project involving the design, development, implementation, and deployment of a BI software. - Experience working as a BI ETL Developer on at least one IT project involving the design, development, implementation, and deployment of a BI software. - Experience working with Azure Data Warehouse and Data Lake technologies.PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR RESUME AND COVER LETTER WITH REFERENCE TO PREFERRED SKILLSPublic Service Loan Forgiveness As a prospective employee of the City of New York, you may be eligible for federal loan forgiveness programs and state repayment assistance programs.
