Senior Network Engineer - Remote Summary The Senior Network Engineer III will play a crucial role in supporting and advancing network-related projects and troubleshooting complex issues. This position requires a strong technical background combined with problem-solving skills to optimize IT solutions and improve infrastructure performance. The Senior Network Engineer will be instrumental in planning and implementing future network enhancements, ensuring alignment with the organization's long-term IT strategy. Responsibilities To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Optimize IT Network Infrastructure to support the integration of artificial intelligence and autonomous operations. Implement modern edge connection technologies such as Software-Defined Networking (SD-WAN) and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) to enhance connectivity and security. Ensure seamless virtualization and cloud integration by managing and configuring VMware networking environments, including NSX and vSphere. Enhance security protocols by implementing advanced firewall solutions, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other cybersecurity tools to safeguard sensitive data. Automate network management processes using scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell, and automation tools like Ansible and Cisco DNA Center. Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans to minimize downtime and ensure reliable network performance. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) to meet security and operational requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams, including systems, security, and database administrators, to maintain a cohesive and secure network environment. Manage vendor relationships to ensure high service levels and cost-effective solutions for network infrastructure. Mentor and train junior network engineers to develop a highly skilled IT team. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT Systems Engineering and Network Operations. Technical Skills & Expertise Proficiency in VMware networking technologies, including NSX and vSphere. Strong knowledge of Rockwell Automation and Siemens networking solutions in industrial environments. Expertise in network security protocols, including firewalls, IDS, and IPS. Hands-on experience with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Cisco DNA Center) and scripting languages (Python, PowerShell). Experience in disaster recovery planning and business continuity strategies. Understanding of regulatory compliance in IT and manufacturing environments (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001). Ability to lead cross-functional collaborations across IT teams. Strong vendor management and project leadership experience. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Primarily an office-based role with extended periods of computer use. Occasional travel may be required. Moderate noise levels in the work environment. Light lifting (up to 25 pounds) may be required for network equipment installations.
