Vice President, Academic Affairs The College of DuPage invites applications for the Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA). The VPAA provides executive leadership, advocacy, vision and supervision, strategic and integrated planning, and oversight for all dimensions of academic affairs, contributing to the high-quality educational experience for the College's diverse community members.Reporting to the President and serving as a member of the presidential cabinet, the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) serves as the Chief Academic Officer (CAO) of the College, directing the work of the academic leadership team, including deans, associate deans, full-time and adjunct faculty, and staff.The VPAA participates in strategic planning, policy formulation, budgetary decisions and problem solving for the college, specifically focusing on matters related to its academic programs and personnel. The VPAA works collaboratively with the Vice President of Student Services to offer advice and counsel to the President on the implications of institutional decisions on both academic programs and the student experience. The VPAA is responsible for planning, developing and administering the College's educational programs, ensuring the academic integrity of the College while supporting innovation in programs and methods of delivery that respond to a rapidly evolving academic environment. The VPAA will be expected to provide leadership, vision, direction, and advocacy for a comprehensive array of academic resources for students and faculty, while identifying, implementing, and evaluating strategies that support student success, including academic persistence and completion of certificates and degrees.College of DuPage (COD) is a comprehensive community college with far-reaching impact. Located in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, just 25 miles outside of Chicago, the campus covers 273 acres. With more than 26,000 students served annually, COD is the largest community college in the state. Qualifications: EducationTerminal degree in area required. A doctorate degree strongly preferred. ExperienceSuccessful completion of at least eight (8) years of progressively challenging responsibilities in a higher education setting including at least four (4) years of experience as a dean and/or associate/assistant vice president required. Significant teaching experience at the college and/or corporate level and a deep knowledge of and appreciation for the role and importance of engaged learning. Experience in a unionized environment required. Possess effective strategic planning skills as well as a solid record of managing large, complex budgets required. Proven record of making and implementing challenging, complicated, and evidence-based decisions required. Previous experience in garnering collaboration with various stakeholders and have a commitment to remain visible, transparent, inspiring, persuasive and accomplished at managing strategic communication systems required. Background in advocating for cross constituency communications, making data driven decisions, supporting professional development, understanding the value of the arts and navigating and managing internal/external organizational politics required. Experience on both the academic and student services sides of the academic leadership spectrum preferred. Demonstrated expertise working with a board of trustees preferred. Record of providing access to opportunities for diverse populations of students as well as faculty preferred. Utilizes standard office equipment, including computers, in order to perform the duties of the job. Work is primarily indoor and sedentary in nature. Non-traditional hours may be required.
