The team you will be a part of The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation. This role in summary Whirlpool is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a critical Senior Manager, Data Platform Architect position in our global Data & Analytics Team. This position has global coverage but its primary focus will be to institute the ATLAS Data Platform on Google Cloud. This position is the owner of the architecture and solution design for the data platform and is accountable for defining the IT strategy around standards, capabilities, and data. The role ensures that the product line is maintained with a consistent solution design across the globe, ensuring fit-for-purpose capabilities, scalability and reliability, and high replicability across regions, markets, and functions. In most cases, you will report directly to a Solution Architect or be part of a product team structure providing technical leadership. *Chicago-based candidates will be expected to work from our World of Whirlpool building (located in downtown Chicago). You will also be required to be onsite at our Global Headquarters in Benton Harbor, MI to attend critical meetings as needed. Your responsibilities will include Lead a team of engineers to mature the technical landscape of an IT product by partnering with business stakeholders on delivering their vision and needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate capability and leadership in the following areas: Collaborate with Product Line Owners to assess and anticipate relevant technical solution design addressing current and future product requirements. Own the solution design strategy and the architectural choices leveraging tight alignment with the Product Line Owner and the Enterprise Architecture team. Coordinate with the Security team to assess and review solution designs for policy, governance, and data privacy compliance. Coordinate with the Legal team to ensure compliance and oversight with all applicable laws, policies, and ordinances. Work with Solution and Enterprise Architects to produce technical specifications and LLDs for the solution development and systems integration requirements. Define, track, and communicate solution design-specific KPIs to improve the solution performance, accuracy, and value. Implement and enforce industry standard development methodologies, including Automation & Configure Management, CI/CD, Disaster Recovery and DevSecOps, within the product line to drive efficiency and boost adoption. Identify and evangelize emerging technology trends that can improve product and business outcomes. Leverage our deep relationships and partner programs to maintain and enhance our leading edge Infrastructure and GCP networking skills - participate in trusted tester programs and alpha/betas. Assist in developing our GCP infrastructure community of practice by sharing your knowledge and experience with your peers and apprentices. Collaborate with our partners, developers and engineers to build repeatable cloud-native solutions that accelerate our clients' path to value. Minimum requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology. 7+ years of experience in Information Systems, Information Technology, or Software Engineering. 5+ years of experience with Infrastructure, Networking, and DevOps scripting and tooling. 3+ years of experience leading edge Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and practices. 3+ years of experience leveraging Google Cloud Platform core skills - Compute, storage, network, IAM, VPC, firewall rules, Load Balancer, Cloud Deployment Manager, Logging and Monitoring. 2+ years of experience leveraging Sentinel Policy for Terraform and delivery of policy of code solutions with Kubernetes infrastructure - containers, GKE, Envoy, Istio, private clusters. Preferred skills and experiences Certified in: Solutions Architect - Associate (or equivalent in AWS/GCP) - Will obtain within 1st year of employment. 3+ years of Experience in developing conceptual architecture diagrams, cloud architecture, and overall system architecture diagrams using tools like Visio or Lucidchart (Artifacts). 3+ years of experience with a strong understanding of business processes and the ability to translate that into IT requirements. 3+ years working knowledge of hybrid-cloud architectures and solutions - GCP Anthos deployments will be a plus, cluster deployments, ACM configurations, Config connector, RBAC and AS. Understanding of Identity and Access Management, user and system authentication methods, certificates, tokens, and certificate management. Excellent analytical, influencing, and communication skills to engage key stakeholder groups, including senior leadership and both technical and non-technical audiences. Detail-oriented and have the ability to deliver on time and work under deadline pressure. Demonstrated ability to attract, retain, develop, and engage high-performing teams. Self-directed and a good understanding of the Change Management Process. Proficient in using Bash, Zsh, Python, and Go to automate on-premise and cloud infrastructure.
