The Lansing Board of Water & Light has an opening for a Fleet Supervisor, located in Lansing, MI. Job Type: Full-TimeStarting Salary Range: $91,746. - $111,930.Position Summary:Oversees maintenance and repair operations. Supervises employees in the Fleet Services area. Supports development and implementation of Fleet operations process improvements. Evaluates and develops replacement recommendations of Fleet vehicles.Essential Functions: Supervises daily/weekly work for all Fleet employees and ensures work assignments are completed in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. Responsible for the daily repair, service work activities, planning and scheduling of Fleet employees. Prepares and submits accurate records for all Fleet employees. Enforces process rules and company policies pertaining to work and company procedures. Develops and implements process improvements. Utilizes the computerized Fleet Management System and other management methods and procedures to update and maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, work orders and other records. Responsible for ensuring that proper equipment inspection programs are in place to assure compliance with applicable safety standards. Works with internal customers to discuss Fleet needs and resolve issues. Works with outside vendors on outsourced repairs of all types including towing services. Tracks progress of work and anticipated delays. Inspects work in progress and recommends corrective action. Recommends process changes and continually monitors process. Completes and maintains reports and related records. Responsible for developing replacement recommendations and specifications to be utilized for purchasing new Fleet units. Familiar with current OSHA and MIOSHA safety standards and regulations and assures compliance with the rules. Ensure staff have required certifications and attend required continuing education seminars. Provides appropriate safety training and support to ensure that risk to employees and the organization is minimized. Participation in the continuous improvement of the Asset Management System and Work Management processes. Expected to comply with all BWL policies and work rules. Predictable and reliable attendance. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Job Specifications:Required: This position requires knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through an associate's degree in logistics or a related field or a Journeyman Certificate in maintenance or a related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires a minimum of five to seven years of related experience in heavy equipment maintenance and operations. Must have broad knowledge of repair and maintenance procedures equivalent of a journey worker certification as an equipment mechanic. Previous experience in repair and maintenance of a wide range of equipment preferred. Applies mastery of skills in maintenance repair, which includes mechanic skills. Adapts procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs. Duties and tasks reflect substantial variety and complexity. Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues. Good written and verbal communication skills required to conduct public speaking assignments and presentations to internal and external groups. Good work record. Must have valid Michigan driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Must be able to use Microsoft products at an intermediate level.Preferred: State of Michigan Mechanic Certification status for cars and heavy trucks preferred.Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about in industrial environments, and uneven terrain. May be required to recognize small numbers, letters, symbols, colors on prints, and/or operate field instruments/equipment. Works in temperature-controlled office environment, with occasional work in outdoor weather conditions, and in industrial environments.
