Job Summary As the GIS Hosting Architect, you will provide architectural direction and leadership in the administration and management of MN.IT partnering with DOT's Enterprise GIS Operational environment which consists of servers, services, and applications business critical to the agency. This position is required to investigate new GIS technologies, make GIS technology recommendations, design, plan and develop the direction of the GIS Operational environment with a high degree of expertise in ESRI - ArcGIS technologies. You will be responsible to ensure compliance with MN.IT State Security standards and policies, and also will be analyzing the GIS Operational environment for reliability and efficiency. This includes being a mentor and directing other staff that support the GIS Operational environments. This position serves as the lead technical contact and advisor on enterprise (MNIT Agency - MnGEO) GIS related projects and services. This position is currently eligible for full-time telework: Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota. Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume. Position requires a minimum of five (5) years of IT related experience of GIS experience with skills in ESRI ArcGIS, open-source tools, DOT system integration, enterprise solution design using .NET and Azure, GIS server optimization, and secure environment management via Active Directory. Experience must include: Experienced in deploying and configuring ESRI ArcGIS and open-source GIS tools, and integrating DOT GIS systems for smooth operation across various environments. Proficient in system and data integration across various environments, with a strong background in designing and configuring enterprise solutions using ESRI, .NET, and Microsoft Azure. Experienced in troubleshooting complex GIS server issues with a focus on performance optimization, skilled in technologies such as ESRI ArcGIS, Apache, Reverse Proxy, .NET, IIS, and VMware, and adept at implementing timely solutions to improve GIS operations. Skilled in hosting GIS environments on Microsoft Azure and experienced in managing and deploying GIS applications using .NET and ASP.NET. Knowledgeable in ESRI ArcGIS and Windows Server licensing and experienced in managing Microsoft Active Directory for secure GIS operations. Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties. Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving. A master's degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor's degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate's degree substitutes for one (1) year. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Microsoft Azure based technologies and Virtual hosting technologies in multiple data centers. Experience with LAN/WAN Network technologies. Experience with IP360 Security Vulnerability Management Systems and Risk remediation. Proven experience in designing and implementing complex technical problem resolution, communication, and monitoring processes within a technical environment. Experience providing direction and guidance to technical staff. Expertise in designing intricate technical systems that align with project requirements and business objectives. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, fostering collaboration and ensuring clear understanding across diverse teams.
