The group's main business is the implementation of mission critical digital mobile communication systems for Commercial Communications customers; specifically support of Xcel Energy land mobile radio systems. Job Description The Field Service Technician will provide technical support of specialized systems and product applications. This includes: advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture including, but not limited to, legacy analog, advanced digital P25 and data infrastructure. * Maintain, optimize, test and document complex communications systems. Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments. * Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with focus on trend analysis and documentation of results * Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues * Totally familiarity with the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques * Team with Engineering, Project Management and Sales personnel to effectively maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems which meet or exceed customer expectations Qualifications: * 2 year Associate Degree in Electronics or IT preferred, or equivalent on-the-job experience * Security +, CompTIA or related certificate is highly desirable * Proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges * Knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN) * Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems and networking equipment * Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access * Strong knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), must be proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches and firewalls. * Must be capable of performing maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues. * Knowledge of R.F. systems, such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks - preferred * Understand standard telephony and dedicated data circuits, as well as knowledge of packet switching techniques - preferred * Must have strong self-management skills and "people" skills to work closely with Motorola's customers and subcontractor community, as well as Motorola Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and customer service teams * Individual preferably have knowledge of one or more of the following; Motorola Conventional, SmartNet, Centracom and MCC Console systems, Secure Operations and ASTRO A7.x Digital systems and installation procedures. * Preferred experience with one of the following: P25, LMR, Smartnet, SmartZone, RF infrastructure, ASTRO systems, radios and consoles. * Preferred experience with one of the following LTE or Private LTE Nokia system knowledge, Juniper Routers and Aruba Switches configuration work and experience The candidate preferably must have strong technical skills in the use of various communications test equipment including: * Communication System Analyzers * Ethernet Link test sets * T1 Test Sets * TIMS (Transmission Impairment Measurement Set) * Digital RF Power Meter Ideally the individual should have at least one network certification: * Network + * CCNA * NRS1 * Related certification Candidate Requirements: * This position will require a security clearance (Department of Energy) * Must have a current, valid driver's license and no outstanding traffic violations * Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract(s) within 15 months after your start date with Motorola Solutions. Travel/Location: * This is a role than requires our Field Service Technician to be on the customer site(s) daily in the Minneapolis area. You will be required to perform strenuous duties. You must be ability to lift and operate 25 - 50 lbs. * The Field Service Technician MUST live within a 45 minute commutable distance from Minneapolis, MN. * Be prepared to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules as required by project demands. #LI-CC1 Target Base Salary Range: $43,400 - $72,400 USD Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate. Basic Requirements * 4+ years of experience with one or more of the following:LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Motorola equipment, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, Networking Equipment, IP Networking, Solutions Architecture, ASTRO 25, P25, WAVE VoIP, or Military experience * Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
