AAK Louisville Louisville, KY About the role Provide leadership and supervision of Production Supervisors, Assistant Production Supervisors and/or plant employees. Manage goals and objectives for Operations staff. Provide formal and informal feedback through coaching, monitoring and evaluating job results, performing training for new employees, managing time, communicating with team and customers, performing safety checks and overseeing production rates and product quality. The positions may also be asked to jump in the lines for each specific team and help out when needed. The position also attends shift pass on, beginning of shift & daily scheduling meetings and must always be communicating and problem solving to keep the product running smoothly and on time. Responsibilities Safety & Environmental Performance Lead the safety effort by personal example. Support full plant wide compliance with safety rules to further our goal of 0 accidents and encouragement of reporting and correcting near misses. Report any injury immediately to Director of Operations, Packaging Manager and Safety Manager upon occurrence Support maintenance/contractors during major construction or anytime maintenance contractors are on site. Identify high-risk safety/ productivity issues and propose solutions. Adhere to SOPs and other work procedures as required to assure product quality and consistency to our customers. Provide employees with the essential tools, materials and information required for packaging production. Enforce GMP compliance. Report safety hazards and issues immediately Develop ideas and process improvements to create a safer work environment. Work Requirements Oversee all production & sanitation personnel, processes and productivity Estimate product status and completion of schedule Oversee and estimate staffing needs to maintain required productivity Ensure employees are trained properly in order to provide customers a superior product Educate and motivate personnel about safety: Safety is the number one job priority Provide practical solutions to operations/ controls problems. Develop team environment in department and resolve all packing issues in coordination with quality department Train personnel in continuous improvement fundamentals Participate in Food Safety Committee, Safety Committee, Audits and other company performance activities Monitor the pack schedule for product changes. Learn new processes and procedures Monitor hourly production rates and packed production; also insure the proper tracking of all downtime Work on the computer and on the phone Attend meetings, work with customers and delegate tasks Walk around own area to help check product quality, employee's efficiency and overall running each line/area Keep track of timecards and overtime on a daily basis Cost Control Contribute to the effort in controlling costs and minimizing waste in product and shrinkage Maintain production requirements with the minimum amount of staffing Minimize overtime through effective staffing and employee cross training Promptly communicate Incident Reports to all shifts Assure proper incident and accident reporting Communicate with all personnel regarding opportunities for improvement About you Preferred college degree in a manufacturing discipline (Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology and Management, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, etc.) 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment in the food industry Experience with computers including Microsoft Office Suite, Lotus Notes, etc. Ability to lead and motivate others. Ability to manage the training of employees in plant activities Have a mechanical aptitude. Must have good math and reasoning skills. Able to apply general mathematical calculations, analysis of variance and other basic standard equations as required.
