A leading, award-winning law firm is actively seeking a talented and motivated Patent Associate to join its prestigious Intellectual Property Team. Responsibilities: Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in a variety of technical fields, including mechanical, electrical, and software-related technologies. Provide strategic counsel to clients on patentability, patent portfolio management, and patent infringement issues. Collaborate with other attorneys and clients to develop strong, effective patent strategies. Conduct patent searches and analyse prior art to support application filings and patentability assessments. Represent clients in communication with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and foreign patent offices. Assist in litigation support and patent litigation matters, as necessary. Keep clients informed and provide expert advice on patent-related matters, including licensing, patent disputes, and strategic planning. Qualifications: 2-4 years of experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, with a focus on mechanical, electrical, and/or software-related technologies. Superior academic credentials from a respected law school. Admission to a state bar is required; registration to practice before the USPTO is preferred. Strong understanding of patent law and procedures, including international patent law. Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and colleagues. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. A proactive, solutions-oriented approach to client service and legal challenges. A technical background or experience in engineering, software, or a related field is highly desirable.
