Job Posting Title: Data Scientist, Department of Women's Health, Dell Medical School Hiring Department: Department of Women's Health Position Open To: All Applicants Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 FLSA Status: Exempt Earliest Start Date: Immediately Position Duration: Expected to Continue Location: AUSTIN, TX Job Details: General Notes: Not a limited position. The Dell Medical School accepted its first class of 50 students in 2016. As part of The University of Texas at Austin, one of the nation's leading research universities, the Dell Medical School will pursue innovation in the redesign of healthcare delivery, excellence in healthcare research, and programs in interdisciplinary and interprofessional education. Purpose: The Data Scientist will support the research projects within the department led by faculty, fellows, and residents. This position will provide support to ensure research projects run smoothly, meet study objectives, and stay within specified timelines. Responsibilities: Data Management: Develop methodologies and databases for collecting data using REDCap, Qualtrics, and other data collection platforms. Manage data for clinical/non-clinical trials in all stages of study from different sources: collection, extraction, quality control, cleaning, data manipulation, preparation. Provide insight into health data architecture and solutions to barriers. Monitor compliance with federal and state regulations as well as internal and partner requirements. Serve as an internal resource to faculty, fellows, and residents regarding data access and management. Work closely with analysts and informatics staff and external data teams. Receive, manage, and deliver requested data tasks; translate data requests into logical queries. Statistical Consulting and Study Collaboration: Collaborate with investigators to develop statistical analysis plans. Carry out statistical analyses independently for complex projects with supervision. Perform power and sample size calculations. Help define research questions and translate into methodologies and statistical analyses. Provide feedback about study design and feasibility. Assist with data interpretation and preparation for presentations and publications. Attend division research meetings, lab meetings, and 1:1 meetings with collaborators. Other: Provide insight and feedback to improve department-wide infrastructure. Maintain department-wide databases. Provide mentorship to fellows and residents. Other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in a related field and at least 2 years of experience in data analysis/science or related field. Proficient in statistical techniques and procedures, R and SAS. Experience with REDCap databases. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications: PhD in related field or DrPh. Familiarity with Gpower and PASS, and other data management programs. Salary Range: OPEN Working Conditions: Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
