FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER OVERVIEW At Infors USA manufactures and sells instruments for life science and biotechnology research and production. Our products include the industry leading Multitron incubation shakers and bioreactors for cell culture and microbial fermentation. Much of what we have been building in the last year has gone straight to COVID-19 research and production. We are a growing company seeking a Field Service Engineer to become a part of our team here in Annapolis Junction, Maryland. POSITION SUMMARY Field Service Engineer must be mechanically inclined, extremely dependable, and trustworthy. They should be comfortable working independently and have excellent communication skills. In this role, the Field Service Engineer is responsible for installation and training, troubleshooting, repairs, preventative maintenance, and emergency service to our customers by performing requested duties. This position requires an extremely perceptive person, who can relate to individuals at all levels, must be able to manage service calls that require more time than anticipated without becoming frustrated or rushing through a job, conduct diagnosis of faults, perform maintenance, and repairs to all types of Infors-HT equipment in a safe, timely and professional manner by returning equipment to operational service. The Field Service Engineer must possess superb customer service skills and the ability to diagnose and solve problems from non-technical descriptions provided by their customers. Responsibilities Carry out diagnosis of faults, the maintenance, and repairs to all types of Infors-HT equipment in a safe, timely and professional manner and return equipment to operational service. Follow all company's filed procedures and protocols. Build positive relationships with customers. Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings. Provide service and customer support during field visits or dispatches. Manage all on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and test tasks. Ensure all work is undertaken to a high-quality standard and adhere to all quality standard regulations. Document service and installation actions by completing forms, logs, and records. Produce timely and detailed service reports. Complete technician comments in a timely manner for the assigned work and turn in necessary paperwork. Tie workflow to schedule. Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions. Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults and concerns to management. Help to maintain company vehicles and keep tools in proper working condition. Keep accurate parts inventory. Operate vehicle in a safe manner and use field automation systems. Assist with the moving, installation or repositioning of machines and equipment. Cooperate with technical team and share information across the organization. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications. Build positive relationships with customers. Diagnose and support entire machine systems and assist customers with the field operation and adjustments. Work as part of a cohesive team within Infors to meet customer needs. Follows all safety practices of the organization when completing work assignments. Undertake special projects as required. Keep up with current and developing manufacturing and engineering trends regarding maintenance. Maintain knowledge on existing products and pursue additional technical and product knowledge by actively participating in training programs. This includes manufacturing and on-the-job training. Maintain communication with the customer and answer questions relative to the work being performed. Make recommendations for additional work that needs to be completed. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
