Job DescriptionOur client, a large medical center, is hiring a Director of Plant Operations. This person will manage the Utility Systems Management Program and Fire Safety Program that ensure a safe, functional and supportive environment that meets patient care and operational needs of the hospital.ResponsibilitiesFire Safety Director (FSD) certificate of fitness by FDNYCertificate of Fitness for Low PSI Oil BurnerDevelop and implement the Utility Systems Management Plan to manage risks associated with utility systems.Develop and implement a Fire Safety Plan that manages fire risks to minimize the potential from fire, smoke and other combustibles.Direct the activities of the plant watch engineers, boiler mechanics and refrigeration techs to operate and maintain plant operations: boilers, HVAC system, medical gases, electrical services and other services.Perform responsibilities as the Fire Safety Director, including liaison with the FDNY on issues and supervision of the interior fire alarm system and sprinkler system.Manage vendors on the inspection, testing and maintenance of the fire alarm system and sprinkler system and ensure the proper documentation of the related activities.Conduct or coordinate fire drills at the hospital and off-site clinics.Review and update the Fire Response Plan.Conduct fire safety training and orientation.Identify and document high-risk operating components of utility systems on the inventory and the activities and frequencies for testing, inspection and maintaining all of these components.Direct in-house staff and outside vendors to test and maintain emergency power systems, including emergency generators, automatic transfer switches and UPS.Direct plant staff and consultant to prepare submissions and meet requirements from EPA, FDNY, DOB, NYDEP and NYDEC.Prepare annual operating budgets and capital needs for plant and building systems operation and maintenance.Conduct training of staff to update their skills.Perform annual evaluation of the Management Plans to determine whether the goals were achieved and the remedial actions to take.RequirementsMinimum formal education of Associate Degree or certification equivalent.Minimum of 5 years job-related experience.Bachelor's degree in engineering of Facilities Management, preferred.Certified Facility Manager (CFM).Facility Management Professional (FPM).Experience in low pressure boiler plant operation and refrigeration systems are required.Experience in high pressure plant desirable.Knowledge of Life safety code, National Electric Code, and National Fire Code TJC standard required.Salary:The posted range is not a guarantee.
