Assistant Controller

The Assistant Controller will partner with the Controller to manage the department's ability to respond to the demands of the business. This Assistant Controller will be responsible for inventory balances, fixed assets, income and balance sheets, analyzing and reporting product cost, manufacturing expense budgets, supervising others and more. In addition, this role will bring financial analytical perspective to the needs of the business that will support management's decisions while ensuring all regulatory requirements are met.Assistant Controller Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssistant Controller supervises and improves accelerated month-end close process, including journal entriesAccumulates and reports accurate and reliable information on the financial performance of the divisionPrepares monthly and quarterly reporting to Corporate, including company financial statements, and tax information requestsReviews monthly reconciliationsMaintains adequate internal controls over company procedures to ensure adherence to management policies and Sarbanes-OxleyDirects annual physical inventory process and supervise reconciliation of raw material, work in process and finished goods inventory balancesIdentifies and implements process improvements for accounting proceduresIdentifies operating risks and propose solutions for management actionDevelops, mentors and evaluates performance of Accounting staffPlans and directs training and skill development of Accounting staffSupports Corporate and internal initiatives and projectsParticipates in compliance with Government Accounting standards and regulationsBuilds effective cross functional relationships; Develops a team environment that ensures alignment to organization goals, objectives, and corporate valuesAssistant Controller Qualifications and Educational RequirementsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance requiredMBA and/or CPA a plus3+ years of post-graduate Accounting experience (public accounting experience preferred)Manufacturing industry experience preferredMust have demonstrated strong analytical and project management skillsProficiency in use of Oracle and Hyperion (HFM) preferredThorough knowledge of regulatory requirements for accounting procedures required
