Assistant General Manager (AGM) - Maize Cocina and Cocktails Job Summary: As the Assistant General Manager (AGM) at Maize Cocina and Cocktails, you will support the General Manager (GM) in overseeing daily operations, ensuring the highest standards of service, food, and beverage quality. You will serve as the key link between departments, leading floor operations, staff training, guest satisfaction, and overall business execution. Your role includes direct involvement in service, team development, and operational efficiency while maintaining a welcoming and professional dining atmosphere. Key Responsibilities: Operations and Guest Experience: Oversee daily restaurant operations for both dine-in and takeout , ensuring exceptional guest service and efficiency. Maintain service excellence by engaging with guests, resolving issues, and handling VIPs and private events. Manage reservation systems, seating charts, and guest experience tracking to ensure smooth service flow. Enforce SOPs, quality control, and NJDOH compliance to ensure a safe and efficient work environment. Lead opening and closing shifts , acting as a keyholder and ensuring all operational checklists are completed. Support the execution of private and corporate events , working closely with the Event Director. Team Leadership and Development: Supervise, train, and mentor a team of 20+ FOH staff members , including servers, bartenders, and hosts. Conduct daily pre-shift meetings covering menu updates, service standards, reservations, and VIP details. Oversee FOH hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management , ensuring professional growth. Foster a positive team culture by maintaining clear communication between FOH, BOH, and management teams. Financial and Administrative Oversight: Assist in budgeting, cost control, and inventory management for food, beverage, and labor costs. Monitor and enforce cash handling, payroll, scheduling, and POS reconciliation to ensure accuracy. Enter tipped employees' tip percentages weekly to ensure proper payroll distribution and compliance. Work closely with the GM to develop and implement marketing plans, promotions, and business strategies . Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to labor, safety, and health standards. Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in a hospitality management role (Assistant Manager, Floor Manager, or similar). Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with a hands-on management approach. Expertise in guest service, team development, and FOH operations . Ability to manage inventory, cost control, scheduling, and payroll processes . Proficiency in restaurant technology, including POS systems, reservations software, and Microsoft Office . NJ Food Handler Certificate and ServSafe/TAM certification preferred. Ability to work flexible hours , including nights, weekends, and holidays. Capable of standing for long periods and lifting up to 30 lbs as needed. Why Join Us?
