UNCLASSIFIED POSITION CURRENT VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field supplemented by four (4) years of Configuration/Asset management experience; experience with logical Configuration Management Database (CMDB) methods and tools; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license or proof of mobility equivalent may be requested. Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Service Delivery Process certification, preferred. Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position. Effective meeting management skills; Proven ability to empathize with internal clients, especially for negotiation of proposed Asset and CMDB changes that impact on provision of IT Services; Proven ability to work constructively with infrastructure teams, in order to ensure that service level objectives continue to be met; Proven ability to gain access to and influence senior managers, in order to gain an understanding of their requirements, to educate them in the business capabilities of Asset and Configuration management; Political awareness, in order to introduce change management disciplines where required; Superior interpersonal communication skills (written, verbal and presentation); Negotiation, influencing and facilitation skills; Manager and Plan activities; Configuration control; Verify and audit. Examination: The examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. If selected, an official, accredited college transcript is required, at time of employment, for all degrees/course work used to qualify for this position. Purpose of Classification: The purpose of the Asset and Configuration Manager classification is to develop, establish and maintain IT assets. Essential Functions: Develops, establishes and maintains IT assets. Monitors capacity for improvements and upgrades. Employee will also assess, and review audit configurations and metadata for IT assets. Also, ensures assets are coded to produce reports. Leverages configuration management tools to develop and maintain a detailed inventory of all Fulton County IT assets and services, including hardware, software, infrastructure components, and logical components like system environments and databases. Establishes or leverages a naming convention that uniquely identifies all assets and ensures that all IT resources comply with identification methods. Develops and maintains configuration management processes so that all configuration changes are tracked, coordinated, and documented. Monitors the capacity of existing configuration management tools and identifies opportunities for improvements, upgrades, or reconfigurations when needed. Conducts regular reviews/audits of the configuration item inventory to ensure metadata is up-to-date and reflects the current state of the IT environment. Assesses all new IT assets and configuration items added to the County's inventory and ensures that only authorized components are used. Works with Service Readiness/Change Manager to update configuration items after a change request is completed. Works with Support and Infrastructure teams to rectify any configuration item discrepancies. Works closely with Desktop Support Technicians to ensure that all provisioned assets are properly tracked and accounted for. Works with Quality Manager to develop and maintain asset management policies and standards to ensure the County's assets are appropriate, well managed, and securable. Supports effort to provide current information and status reports for all Fulton County technology assets and services. Keeps an inventory report in order to manage inventory to share with management. Employee will also keep a Configuration Management DB report in order to verify and report on system configuration so that technical staff and management will be updated constantly. Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; ability to calculate decimals and percentages; may include ability to perform mathematical operations with fractions; may include ability to compute discount, interest, and ratios; may include ability to calculate surface areas, volumes, weights, and measures. Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of influence systems, such as motivation, incentive, and leadership, and to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to resolve problems. Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.
