This opportunity entails leading the development and implementation of Building Information Modeling for Infrastructure (BIM4i) processes for complex and critical transportation, civil, and utility projects. The role involves collaborating with project teams to develop and manage data-rich infrastructure BIM models that support the full lifecycle of transportation and civil projects. This includes integrating asset data, facilitating multi-discipline coordination through clash detection, and leveraging 3D/4D/5D modeling for enhanced project visualization, simulation, and analysis. The position will also focus on advancing digital project delivery, improving decision-making through model-based workflows, and ensuring alignment with national BIM for Infrastructure initiatives and standards. What You'll Do: Design and develop the VDC process for complex and critical construction projects using software such as Revit, Navisworks, SketchUp, etc. Create and maintain BIM models using software such as Revit, Navisworks, SketchUp, etc. Perform clash detection and coordination using software such as Navisworks, BIM 360, etc. Produce 3D visualizations and animations using software such as Lumion, Enscape, etc. Implement and oversee VDC technology initiatives such as laser scanning, drones, virtual reality, etc. Provide support for software and hardware systems that are used by the VDC team. Work with the VDC team to ensure quality and accuracy of BIM models and deliverables. Communicate with project stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements. Train and mentor junior VDC specialists. Provide technical leadership and direction for VDC projects and teams. Recruit, hire, develop and retain staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession. Coordinate schedules and approve timecards. Perform other duties as assigned. What You'll Need: Associate's degree or certificate in computer-aided design (CAD), BIM, VDC, or a related field and 9 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field and 7 years of related experience, or In lieu of education, 11 years of relevant experience. What You'll Bring: Knowledge of advanced BIM for Infrastructure (BIM4i) principles, including model-based design, asset lifecycle management, model as a legal document (MALD), clash detection, and coordination. Proficiency in industry-standard BIM and geospatial software such as Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer, InfraWorks, Revit, Navisworks, Synchro, and Bentley ProjectWise, Autodesk Construction Cloud, among others. Experience with emerging digital project delivery technologies, including reality capture (LiDAR, laser scanning, drones), 4D/5D modeling, GIS integration, and digital twins. Ability to develop and implement BIM workflows for complex infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with FHWA BIM for Infrastructure requirements and open data standards. Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and facilitate data-driven decision-making. Attention to detail and quality assurance, ensuring models and digital workflows meet industry standards and project objectives. Familiar with scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Dynamo, Grasshopper) to enhance BIM processes and data interoperability. What We Prefer: Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, geospatial sciences, or a related field. Familiarity with web-based BIM platforms and open data exchange formats such as IFC, LandXML, and CityGML. Experience implementing BIM for Infrastructure policies in alignment with FHWA, DOT, and federal/state BIM mandates.
