Job DescriptionAbout The PositionThe KIPP Foundation is seeking a Vice President (VP) of Transformation to play a pivotal role in driving the execution of the Foundation's 5-year strategy, transformation and operational priorities. The VP will provide strategic leadership and spearhead processes that foster innovation, operational excellence and sustainable practices. As a strategic thinker and results-oriented leader, the VP will excel in navigating complexity, embracing ambiguity, managing change and leading transformational initiatives with measurable impact across the organization. This role will oversee large-scale change efforts by both providing direct support and developing capabilities across KIPP Foundation teams (i.e. Finance, Schools, Talent, etc.) as the organization implements its ambitious five-year strategic plan. Reporting directly to the COO and leading a 2-3-person transformation team, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with the organization's senior leaders to promote organizational excellence and position the organization for long-term success.ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership:Develop and champion the organization's transformation roadmap that will lead to actualization of the organization's long-term strategic priorities. Ensure these priorities are translated into actionable, repeatable processes and plans that align with the organization's vision with clear performance indicators and measurable impact.Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Transformation Team, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.Establish KPIs and performance metrics to measure the success and impact of transformation programs.Serve as a trusted advisor to COO and senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations to guide decision-making while ensuring alignment across priorities and initiatives.Lead innovation and the adoption of industry best practices in transformation management and process excellence within the team.Transformation and Operational Excellence:Oversee project execution and governance, ensuring initiatives are high-quality, delivered on time and within scope.Quickly understand the current state by rapidly unpacking challenges, learning the culture, and moving to action with speed and clarity.Support the COO by building rubrics and processes to greenlight implementation plans, allocating resources and enhancing quality and productivity.Champion change management best practices, mitigating resistance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.Execution and Collaboration:Communicate program strategies, progress, and results to Senior Leaders and key stakeholders.Act as a liaison between senior leaders, KIPP Foundation leaders, regional leaders and transformation team to facilitate understanding and buy-in for transformation initiatives.Drive adoption of new tools, systems, and processes by integrating change management best practices into projects and operating procedures.Stakeholder Management:Build, develop, and manage a high-performing transformation team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and growth.Develop strong relationships with Foundation leaders and other stakeholders to achieve alignment, collaboration and capacity building.Partner with stakeholders to ensure seamless adoption of project deliverables while minimizing disruption.Skills and MindsetsMission & Student Focus:Demonstrates passion and commitment to KIPP's mission and possesses the desire and ability to uphold KIPP's core values (Focus on Excellent Results, Collective Impact, and Courageous Action).Self-Awareness:Practices self-awareness at work, understanding that it is foundational to leading self, leading people, and leading results; uses reflection, self-understanding, and feedback to grow, and persist through challenges.Effective Work & Process Management:Sets a clear vision that ensures alignment of the team's work to organizational goals. Effectively prioritizes and delivers on work products that ensure sustainability and scalability of work.Achievement and Outcomes Orientation:Demonstrated record of setting and achieving ambitious goals for their departments in complex or ambiguous environment; delivers to a high bar of excellence.Strategic Decision Making and Problem Solving:Effectively develops network-wide metrics across departments and monitors own and others effectiveness to drive improvements.Change Management and Communications:Able to set a compelling organizational directive for change efforts, catalyzing teams to achieve change at scale.Effective Teaming and Stakeholder Management:Identifies and leverages opportunities with both internal and external stakeholders to increase impact.People Management and Development:Effectively builds systems to enable learning and continuous improvement across functions.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree is required, advanced degree preferred.12+ years of experience in program or project management.8+ years of experience in a leadership role, directly or indirectly managing 2+ team members.Experience with learning and development, offering professional development, and/or adult coaching.Charter School Management or experience in a related field is a plus but not required.Experience in large-scale change management, turnaround and restructurings, or related work.Strong strategic problem-solving, project and process supervision, and stakeholder management skills.Excellent relationship building, communication and collaboration abilities.Experience in program governance, KPI development, and performance tracking.Proficient in Microsoft Office and Teams.Work ConditionsTravel requirements: 25%.Full-time position.LocationIt is preferred, but not mandatory for this role to be based out of the NYC KIPP Foundation office. This role has the option of working from a remote office full-time.Compensation and Benefits:In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, and relevant experience. The salary range for this position is $190,000 - $227,000.
