Base pay range $160,000.00/yr - $225,000.00/yr Location: New York or San Francisco (fully On-site) Company: Our client's product is a pioneering video foundation model built by former Stanford PhDs and backed by top investors at Index, A16Z, and Abstract Ventures. They are building a full-stack creation studio capable of control, emotion, and creative intelligence. They have raised 10 million dollars in their seed round to revolutionize content creation. Their flagship product, the Character foundation model, launched in late June and garnered national attention, landing them on the top of Reddit (multiple times!) and Twitter. In early October they released a new product, which has already produced highly creative and viral content. About the product: They are a foundation model company that focuses on character generation. Their video model product can turn text and images into longform videos of expressive, emotional performance. Unlike other video companies, they are building the whole stack from the video model to the audio, to the underlying intelligence necessary to drive a compelling performance. In the long-term, they want to build the platform for automating asynchronous video communication. About the team: The CEO was a PhD student at Stanford jointly advised by Jiajun Wu and Fei-Fei Li. He has published in top computer science conferences such as ICRA and CoRL, with a focus on building large-scale simulation platforms for computer vision and robotics. He has also made notable contributions to several open-source projects. He's a passionate cinephile, former thespian, and huge fan of Denis Villeneuve. You will work with other highly skilled and passionate engineers and top researchers to build a truly disruptive and novel technology. They are looking for full-time hires for their New York or San Francisco offices. About the role: As a Lead Product Engineer, you will design, build, and deploy the frontend and backend services that power their media creation platform. You will work with frameworks/languages/platforms including Typescript, React, Redux, Mobx, NextJS, and Vercel. You will work with emerging web standards to build web-based video and audio creation. Ideally, you will also work on building and deploying backend services and APIs to the Kubernetes infrastructure, write secure, stable, and scalable Python code, interface with their foundation model, and integrate with SQS, Kafka, S3, and DynamoDB to implement event streaming/processing logic. Tech stack: Typescript, NextJS, Vercel, Tailwind, ShadCN, Radix, Python, FastAPI Responsibilities: Designing, building, and deploying frontend and backend services Working with emerging web standards for web-based video and audio creation/editing tools Building and deploying backend services and APIs to Kubernetes infrastructure Writing secure, stable, and scalable Python code Integrating with SQS, Kafka, S3, and DynamoDB for event streaming/processing logic Working with passionate engineers and researchers to build disruptive technology Working closely with design and product to deliver engineering initiatives Your experience: Startup Experience is a must "” they work hard and build quickly. You have a Computer Science degree from a top university You have 0-1 product development experience, building a product from an idea to its first shippable version Bonus to have: Familiarity with audio/video web standards and tools, such as Webcodecs and webRTC. Experience developing and integrating with scalable backend services using Python Experience working with relational and noSQL datastores (such as DynamoDB). Experience writing unit and integration tests, working with CI/CD, and writing functional tests using tools such as Playwright. Strong familiarity with frameworks / standards / concepts such as websockets, IndexedDB, promises, generators, and coroutines. Experience integrating with REST APIs for distributed systems.
