Goodheart-Willcox Publisher Director of Product Strategy and Acquisitions in Tinley Park, Illinois Director of Product Strategy and Acquisitions Goodheart-Willcox Publisher, experts in Career and Technical Education (CTE) and an employee-owned company, is seeking a Director of Product Strategy and Acquisitions . This role will have a significant impact on share expansion and overall financial performance. The Director of Product Strategy and Acquisitions is the strategic driving force behind the market and product level strategies for new and existing markets. We welcome candidates from any location in the U.S. to apply. Chicagoland candidates will follow a hybrid schedule, working at least two days per month in our Tinley Park, Illinois office. Our compensation is market based and takes into account a variety of factors including the candidate's skill set, experience level, internal equity, and location. For this position, we anticipate the starting salary falling between $134,000 and $160,000 per year. In addition, the company makes a 10% contribution to the Employee Stock Ownership Plan and a 4% matching contribution to the 401(k). What you'll do: Lead, train, and facilitate the acquisition team's efforts to acquire quality authors for new and revised products. Work with each acquisitions editor to build a pipeline of author prospects and successfully recruit and sign them to write and revise products. Guide and facilitate the signing approval process. Lead team efforts to establish product vision and content. Direct strategic planning effort for list and product strategy, acquisitions planning, product innovation and ideation, as well as digital product and platform requirements. Contribute to overall company strategy and planning for new products and value propositions for core, supplemental, digital, as well as print product models. Assist efforts to develop new product offerings (skills mastery, sims, etc.), including branding, messaging, aligning go-to-market strategy, etc. Work with the editorial directors and teams to effectively plan, launch, and properly execute the development of new and revised products. Manage team efforts to monitor changes to credentialing organizations' standards and/or curriculum standards in states for new adoption opportunities. Maintain close connections with key contacts in these organizations. Guide the acquisition team efforts to cultivate and build a pipeline of reviewers and SMEs in each market and work as a liaison with the reviewers/SMEs and editorial teams. Recruit, develop, reward, and retain top talent. Establish and promote a culture of high performance with clear expectations related to job responsibilities, accountability, and performance metrics for each team member. What you'll bring: Minimum 5 years of experience in the publishing industry required. Minimum 3 years of successful editorial management and acquisitions experience required. Minimum 3 years managing a team of acquisitions editors required. Editorial, publishing, sales and/or marketing experience required. Market knowledge for product disciplines preferred.
