Salary: $99,000 to $121,000 annually, based on experience Summary: The Database Engineer will work closely with other engineers, Systems Admins, and software developers to deliver robust, scalable, and secure database solutions. Responsibilities include maintaining and enhancing complex database management systems, ensuring high performance, data integrity, and recoverability, coordinating installations and upgrades, monitoring database performance, implementing modernizations, and establishing policies and procedures. Functions: Performs high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex database management systems workstations and servers on multiple operating systems. Implements and maintains smooth operation and physical design of databases. Coordinates, directs, and performs complex database software installations and upgrades to operating systems and related database software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Continually monitors and tunes multiple database systems and databases to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures database data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate solutions of varying complexities. Ensures database recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of database backups and archive operations. Plans and implements the modernization of database implementations. Develops, implements, and promotes standard operating procedures, policies, and schedules. Conducts audits of databases to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. Qualifications and Skills include: Advanced database management and administration across multiple operating systems. Installation, configuration, and upgrading of database software and related operating systems. Database tuning and monitoring to ensure optimum system performance. Data integrity management using complex evaluation and implementation techniques. Database backup, recovery, and archive operations to ensure recoverability. Auditing databases to ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards. Troubleshooting complex database issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Working closely with system administrators, database engineers, and software developers to design and implement database solutions. Scheduling and managing database installations, upgrades, and routine maintenance. Leading modernization initiatives and ensuring smooth transitions to updated systems. Education/Experience include: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience. 6+ total years of related experience. Must be DoD 8570/DoD 8140 IAT Level II qualified. Working Conditions: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Full-time position.
