Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager (SSM) III, the SSM II manages the Performance Development Section of the Human Resources Bureau (HRB). The section is responsible for providing advice, consultation, and resources to management and supervisory level staff at the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) and the Board of Equalization (BOE) on the progressive discipline process and employee performance. The SSM II ensures the section is functioning efficiently and effectively by providing ongoing program evaluation, planning, and policy analysis. The SSM II coordinates and oversees program-related training and special projects. The incumbent represents the section and HRB, providing guidance and interpretation on various laws, rules, and regulations, and serves as a resource for analysts, managers, and supervisors. Working Conditions Position may be located in a high-rise building. Telework is available fifty percent (50%) of the time. Standard office environment. Requires being in a stationary position, consistent with office work, for extended periods of time. Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone.
