About the Role The Account Manager is responsible for working with the Trusts & Estates, Business Development, and Appraisals departments in evaluating and processing multidepartment consignment inquiries from private individuals, non-profit institutions, and corporate consignors. The Account Manager will serve as the hub of information for al large-scale consignments, providing client support throughout the entire consignment process. This position can be based in our LA office or anywhere in the West Coast/Pacific Time Zone. Key Tasks and Responsibilities * Act as valuation project manager for large, complex, long-term consignments and collections frequently requiring organization of specialists and regional staff * Answer client queries, oversee a portfolio of assigned customers, develop new business from existing clients and actively seek new sales opportunities * Manage the entire valuation process including but not limited to: communicating and managing client expectations; preparing valuation proposals and agreements; carrying out pre-valuation walk-throughs or document review; calculating and communicating to the client associated fees, organizing, scheduling and accompanying specialist team on client visits; following up with specialists regarding values, comparables and/or comparable basis paragraphs; setting, communicating and monitoring deadlines to clients and specialists; managing the movement of documents through the production and proofing process and producing and reviewing final documents to ensure product meets Bonhams' high appraisal standards and sending these to the client * Establish and maintain strong working relationships with Bonhams' colleagues across departments, as well as external clients including bankers, lawyers, advisors, family offices, curators, and collection managers * Work with Proposals, Consignment Management, Client Strategy and Fiduciary Client Group on sale and estate related projects as needed * Assist in triaging consignment potential and salability, and assign to appropriate departments * Participate in internal meetings, serving as a representative of Valuations * Attend on-site and off-site events as required * Maintain detailed status reports for all assigned consignments, communicating these regularly to all internal and external stakeholders * Clearly communicate the Bonhams' value proposition and process to consignors to deliver an exceptional client experience * Maintain the highest standard of client service, and proactively manage and support high-touch clients Qualifications and Skills * Bachelor's degree or the equivalent is preferred * At least 3-5 years related experience * Strong verbal and written communications skills * Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation abilities * Proven ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects at a time, while maintaining sharp attention to detail * Comfortable with deadlines and working in a fast-paced environment * Demonstrable ability to communicate, present, and influence key stakeholders externally and at all levels of an organization, including executive and C-level * Strong analytical skills and ability to manage complex information * High level of professionalism to support confidential deals and projects Additional Desired Qualities * Interest in fine art, art history, and/or auction world * Self-starter with a desire to grow professionally and develop new skills * Highly organized and detail-oriented * Thrives in a collaborative environment and excels in building strong interpersonal relationships * Fluency in PC applications and Microsoft Office Suite What we offer In addition to an active and progressive work environment, Bonhams offers a competitive benefits package to encourage work/life balance, including: * Excellent medical, dental and vision insurance - HMO, EPO, PPO with FSA and HSA * 20 days paid time off (PTO) * 12 paid holidays and holiday break from Christmas to New Years Day * 16 weeks fully paid parental leave and flexible work arrangements * 401(k) retirement plan with company contribution * Life insurance with AD & D * Short- and long-term disability * Paid cellphone and data service * Professional development: tuition reimbursement and free online training library * Commuter benefits (transit and parking) * Employee assistance program (EAP) * Onboarding buddy: 90 day mentor to welcome and orient new joiners * Employee resource groups: social club, diversity committee, mentorship program * Sponsored socials: annual staff art exhibition, annual summer and holiday parties, monthly snacks and treats Applicants who best match the position needs will be contacted.
