Description Assistant Professor (tenure-track) faculty position Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine West Virginia University School of Medicine, Morgantown, WV The West Virginia University Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine seeks to fill two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor rank. Candidates with innovative research programs focused on the fundamental mechanisms underlying human disease are particularly sought.The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine offers a collaborative, multifaceted academic environment with active research in the areas of metabolism, RNA biology, structural biology, visual & sensory biology, and cell biology (Biochemistry/). Faculty are backed by substantial salary support. The department maintains a highly regarded faculty mentoring program to help advance the careers of junior faculty. Further, successful candidates may be eligible to participate in an NIH funded, mentored career development program at WVU and may apply for funding from the Visual Sciences Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (biochemistry/visual-sciences-center-of-biomedical-research-excellence/). The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine is part of the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center, which incorporates the WVU Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, and Public Health. Research at the Health Sciences Center is supported by state-of-the-art core facilities at HSC (resoff/research/shared-research-resources/) and throughout the WVU campus (). Qualifications The successful candidate will develop and maintain an extramurally funded research program and participate in departmental teaching at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels. Minimum qualifications are a terminal degree in the biomedical and biological sciences or related fields, at least one year's postdoctoral experience in a related field, and high-quality publications. A candidate with a PhD in another field will be considered providing they have 2 years of postdoctoral training in the biological and biomedical sciences and have demonstrated successful contributions to biomedical research.
