Job Summary:The City of St. Peters is seeking a Parks Worker to join our Parks Department's Green Team. This role involves maintaining athletic fields, park landscapes, and natural habitats while developing skills in horticulture, conservation, and stewardship. Responsibilities include tree care, landscape maintenance, athletic field upkeep, and general park maintenance. This job may include a rotating weekend schedule to accommodate Athletic Field reservations. Opportunities for advanced training and certifications in arboriculture and horticulture are available.Normal Shift: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m.; rotating weekend shiftsKey Responsibilities:Perform tree care, including planting, watering, pruning, and removals.Maintain landscapes, including shrubs, perennials, flower displays, mulching, and weed control.Assist with the City's Memorial Program, holiday decorating, and special projects.Perform grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, planting, pruning, trimming, and irrigation system upkeep.Maintain and repair parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, and trails.Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides as needed.Operate and perform minor maintenance on light and heavy equipment, power tools, and motorized vehicles.Operate and perform minor maintenance on vehicles up to and including a Class "B" CDL size vehicle with air brakes.Assist with snow removal and other seasonal tasks.Perform minor building, facility, and pool maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and electrical repairs.Work across teams on turf care, concrete, asphalt, and heavy equipment operation.Follow all City safety standards and perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements:Must be a US citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.High School graduate or GED certificate.One (1) year of applicable experience.Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and carry it a reasonable distance and occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 lbs.Must have a Class "B" with air brakes CDL valid in the state of Missouri or obtain within 120 days of employment.Commercial drivers' instruction permit (CDIP) must be obtained within 60 days of employment.Why Join Us?This role offers hands-on experience in horticulture, conservation, and park maintenance with opportunities for professional growth through certifications, seminars, and specialized training.
