Villarreal & Associates, a growing staff counsel program for State Farm Mutual Automobile Company, is seeking Legal Secretaries to join their growing team in Houston, Texas. Candidates must be detail-oriented, adaptable, and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced electronic environment. The position is classified as a hybrid role, meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually. Everyone in a hybrid role is required to spend time in the office. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs. Required work hours are 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday.Office location: 1221 Lamar, Suite 900 Houston, TX 77010Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:Managing calendars for multiple attorneysDrafting pleadingsElectronic filing with the courtsPulling signed orders and communicating with clientsDrafting and sending routine legal correspondenceQualificationsPrevious Experience required3-5 years of recent civil defense litigation secretarial experience in a high volume environment, preferably in insurance defense or personal injuryKnowledge of legal and medical terminology, local and state rules regarding pleadings and pre-trial matters, deadlines, and filing requirementsKey Skills requiredStrong organizational skills, prioritizing urgent and non-urgent tasks (items with deadlines, handling demands), multitaskingFamiliarity with rules and procedures of District Clerks and knowledge of service and filing requirements is necessaryExperience drafting simple motions and pleadingsE-filing experience with Texas E-filing proceduresAbility to adapt to a corporate law environmentStrong written and oral communication skills (proofreading, attention to detail, formatting)Accurate typing skills neededTechnology/software experience requiredWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteWorking knowledge of Case Management systemAdditional Details:Applicants are required to be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately.
