Position Summary... Performs inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs following company guidelines under the direct supervision of a qualified shop technician on some Walmart equipment (for example, trailers) by creating and processing work orders; assessing maintenance and repair needs; identifying needed parts and possible solutions; selecting the best possible solution; conducting maintenance and repairs (for example, dismounting/installing tires on wheels, repairing flats, balancing tires, adjusting landing gear, replacing lights, trailer door repairs) following company and Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines and requirements; seeking approval for maintenance and repairs performed by qualified shop technicians; communicating with individuals or groups (for example, customers, suppliers, associates) verbally and in writing; and completing work orders, records, logs and other written or computer-based documents according to established procedures. Receive fuel drops and conducts fuel sampling by monitoring the drop to ensure safety compliance; following procedures for fuel additives; monitoring tank levels before and after the drop; collecting and preparing fuel samples for analysis and shipping; and completing appropriate paperwork. We are seeking an entry level diesel truck and trailer mechanic to perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on Walmart equipment under the direct supervision of a qualified shop technician. The successful candidate will assess maintenance and repair needs, identify needed parts and possible solutions, and conduct maintenance and repairs following company and DOT guidelines. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be able to work as a team, and have a desire to learn and improve. The hourly wage range for this position is $25.15-$28.65* * The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.
