Job Description Installs, repairs and maintains industrial and commercial refrigerating and heating (cooking) systems as well as performs general maintenance of kitchen facilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Complies with the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession; upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives, regulations, GISD school board policies, as well as local, state and federal regulations. All functions are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety and computer security regulations. Lays out reference points for installation of structural and functional components. Drills holes and installs mounting brackets and hangers into floor and walls of building. Lifts or hoists and aligns components into position. Screws, bolts, rivets, welds and brazes parts to assemble structural and functional components such as motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condenser, cores and pipes. Cuts, threads and connects pipe to functional components and water or power system of premises. Pumps specified gas or fluid into systems, including refrigerant, grease, oil, etc. Complies with Universal Refrigerant Handlers License requirements for use of refrigerant Dismantles malfunctioning systems and tests components. Replaces or adjusts defective or worn parts to repair systems. Insulates shelves and cabinets of systems. Cleans up after work is completed. Installs wiring to connect components to electric power source. Accompanies and monitors external contractors performing work/inspections on kitchens and kitchen equipment. Performs general maintenance of kitchen facility and infrastructure to include minor repair of walls, floors, replacement of bulbs, ceiling tiles and exhaust fans. Routinely as part of preventative maintenance cleans exhaust fans, ventilation vents/louvers, and light fixtures. Performs preventative maintenance of clothes washers and dryers in kitchens. Performs repairs and/or replacement of 3-compartment sinks, p-traps, faucets, and drains, kitchen restroom toilets, handwashing sinks, ice machines, unless licensed professional is required. Uses appropriate equipment to unclog drains Troubleshoots electrical, gas, controls and plumbing systems and repairs systems unless licensed professional is required. Maintains preventative maintenance schedules and procedures for all food service (kitchen) and refrigeration equipment, including changing of filters and cleaning condensers and coils. Maintains areas surrounding condensers and coils clean and free of debris and obstructions. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE * Post-secondary education in the area of HVACR complete to include a Certification or * Five (5) year experience as a building mechanic preferred CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS * Universal Refrigerant Handlers License. * Journeyman's License. Supplemental Information TECHNOLOGY SKILLS * Ability to use multiple virtual and/or online platforms/applications LANGUAGE SKILLS Able to read, write and communicate both verbally and in writing in English. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Able to calculate and solve problems in basic arithmetic, convert measurements from English to metric system. REASONING ABILITY Read electric and mechanical schematics and drawings.
