Part-Time Maintenance Ranger - Newport Sea Base

The Part-Time Maintenance Ranger is a vital member of the Newport Sea Base team, ensuring the upkeep and safety of our beautiful waterfront facility. This role requires a dedicated individual with a strong work ethic, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for our Scouting community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Groundskeeping: Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the Sea Base grounds, including: * Mowing lawns and trimming edges * Weeding and cultivating flower beds and planters * Raking leaves and debris * Emptying trash and recycling receptacles * Maintaining the cleanliness of docks and waterfront areas * Building Maintenance: Perform minor repairs and upkeep of buildings and facilities, such as: * Painting and touch-ups * Minor carpentry and plumbing repairs * Replacing light bulbs and fixtures * Assisting with set-up and tear-down of equipment for programs and events * Equipment Maintenance: Assist with basic maintenance and repair of small motors and equipment, such as: * Outboard motors * Pumps * Small engines (e.g., lawnmowers, generators) * Safety and Security: * Conduct regular safety inspections of the property, identifying and reporting potential hazards * Ensure compliance with safety regulations * Assist with opening and closing procedures, ensuring the security of the facility * Customer Service: * Provide friendly and helpful assistance to visitors and staff * Respond to inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent * Previous experience in groundskeeping or maintenance preferred * Experience with basic motor repair is a plus * Ability to operate basic power tools and equipment (e.g., lawnmower, weed trimmer) * Knowledge of basic safety procedures * Strong work ethic and attention to detail * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills1 * Passion for the outdoors and the Scouting mission Physical Demands: * Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds * Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods * Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions Hours: * Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week * Weekends and evenings may be required Compensation: * Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience Deadline: Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
