At the end of their life, we repurpose electric vehicle batteries to provide clean power at depots, on construction sites and film sets.Today we have 730 MW of grid scale battery storage operational and under construction and are the largest owner and operator of EV buses in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, supporting over 1,000 electric vehicles worldwide. In our first five years we have raised nearly £1.8 billion in funding and have expanded into other markets such as the US. Our rapidly growing company is looking for highly talented and motivated people to join us.THE OPPORTUNITYWe are looking to recruit an experienced and electrically qualified process driven operations professional with experience in the EV Operations market to lead us scaling up our operations processes along with the number of sites within the US. The candidate will bring a good understanding of the technologies around electric vehicle charging, charger OEM's and batteries, and monitoring and control software corresponding to both. Working with the Director of Asset Management & Operations and other members of the operations team, the candidate will manage the day-to-day aspects of the operations process from the detection of issues to the reporting and development of systems to mitigate their reoccurrence. The role integrates with team members in analytics, software product management, construction and business development to maximise the value of new and existing projects. The role includes liaising with clients and external stakeholders. It will be a requirement to hit the ground running and to be comfortable operating at a rapid pace at times with high levels of ambiguity and the pressure of deadlines.A BIT ABOUT THE DAY TO DAYThe role holder will be required to help optimise business processes and implement systems to enhance efficiencies within Zenobe. The role will be the point of EV escalation and line management for the regional O&M leads.Support the Zenobe EV Business Development and Procurement teams during the feasibility and bidding stages of the asset lifecycleThe Head of Operations EV will actively participate in the EV business development and procurement processes to ensure that deliverable and profitable bids are submitted. For example giving input to the sub-contracting strategy, validating programme and cost assumptions and participating in bid review meetings to give operational risk assessments.Support the Zenobe Delivery team during the asset creation phase of the asset lifecycleThe Head of Operations EV will actively support the Zenobe Delivery team during the asset creation part of the asset lifecycle. For example, giving input on procurement decisions about original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) based on operational experience, appointment of sub-contractors based on operational experience and working constructively with Delivery on commissioning to ensure a smooth handover.Responsible for operation and maintenance of the EV assetsThe majority of the Head of Operations-EV time will be spent ensuring that the assets are operated and maintained so that business goals for health and safety, finance, asset stewardship and customer service are achieved. These are measured on a monthly basis through a balanced scorecard process.This will include;Working with the Zenobe safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) team to ensure a positive approach to health and safety and environment. For example carrying out regular H&S site visits, ensuring H&S site risk assessments and incident response plans are in place and ensuring regular environmental audits are completed.Putting in place operating and maintenance plans for each site and ensuring that they are followed, including all statutory operating and maintenance records.Deciding on the optimum balance between in-house and sub-contractor resources.Building and leading the in-house Zenobe operation and maintenance team in accordance with the operating and maintenance plans and the optimum balance of in-house and sub-contractor resources.Managing sub-contractors to ensure optimum performance.Ensuring that an effective issue resolution process is in place using the 24/7 contact centre.Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to identify key pain points and vulnerabilities as well as identify and follow up on opportunities for future improvements, driving success for Zenobe and our customers.Gathering and analysing asset information to develop mid-life capital investment (mid-life capex) plans eg optimising replacement of batteries on buses.Gathering and analysing asset information to produce end of asset life plans eg re-purposing to the Zenobe Second Life team.Working with Zenobe's Product team to develop system designs and future software releases.Working with Zenobe's Commercial Analytics team to ensure monitoring and reporting on performance is adequate and insightful and to expand automated reporting.Working with Zenobe's Commercial Analytics team to ensure monitoring, automated alerting and reporting on performance is adequate and insightful.Health and SafetyActively contribute to Zenobe's commitment to health and safety, wellbeing and sustainability by; integrating these principles into daily responsibilities, ensuring a safe and supportive work environment, promoting both the physical and mental health of self and colleagues, and adopting sustainable and energy-efficient practices to minimize environmental impact.
