Chief Accounting Officer for BJC Health SystemAs a member of the BJC executive leadership team, the Chief Accounting Officer will direct the accounting and financial reporting for BJC HealthCare (24 hospitals, 8 foundations, and corporate Shared Services organization) system wide ($11B in net revenue). This leader will drive consistency, compliance, and data integrity in all financial and accounting initiatives.They will partner with the system CFO, hospital/other healthcare service organization Presidents and leadership to develop and manage to short and long-term financial objectives. BJC and its hospitals and health service organizations provide $785.9 million annually in community benefit, including $410.6 million in charity care and other financial assistance to patients to ensure medical care regardless of their ability to pay.BJC's patients have access to the latest advances in medical science and technology through a formal affiliation between Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children's Hospital with the renowned Washington University School of Medicine.Essential AccountabilitiesOversee the accounting for all of BJC Health System.Coordinate the external audit of the System, as well as the critical access hospitals, retirement plans, captive insurance companies, and other audit services.Produce monthly internal financial statements for management - ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timely preparation of financial statements.Provide support for the tax team to ensure accurate information in all tax filings.Provide staff support for the Audit and Finance & Planning committees of the BJC Board.Work closely with Hospital and Corporate finance teams to support forecasting and budgeting based on actual results.Manage all agreements with Washington University School of Medicine.Oversee revenue recognition for the System and ensure appropriateness of Accounts receivable reserves.Support the forecasting and budgeting process as it relates to government reimbursement.Oversee Disbursements team, ensuring integrity and internal controls of payments.Position RequirementsThe Chief Accounting Officer will have the following combination of skills and experience:Minimum of 10 years of experience and at least 8 years of leadership experience.Bachelor's degree in accounting (Master's degree preferred).CPA (Certified Public Accountant).Comfortable working in a complex matrix organization.Strong sense of mission and an active, engaged leadership style.Operationally savvy with a problem-solving mindset.Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, analytic, and communication skills.BenefitsBJC offers comprehensive benefits to support physical, emotional, social, and financial well-being, including:Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and legal services.Disability insurance paid for by BJC.Pension Plan and 403(b) Plan funded by BJC.401(k) plan with BJC match.Tuition Assistance available on first day.Paid Time Off benefit combines vacation, sick days, holidays, and personal time.To learn more, go to above information has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees in this position.
