Location: Portland, Oregon or US remote Position Status: Full-time, Exempt, Temporary (5 months) Salary Level: Starting salary range for this role will be from $76,800 to $82,000 USD annually, commensurate with experience. Risk Level: Level 3: Frequent contact with participants, direct contact with children, access to sensitive data, and/or high level of accountability. Level 2: Some contact with participants; unplanned non-direct contact with children. Level 1: Likely to have no contact with participants or sensitive data. In support of that mission, the Corporate Partnerships Team manages Mercy Corps' relationships with major US companies by raising unrestricted revenue, co-creating strategically restricted grants and elevating Mercy Corps' brand profile. General Position Summary The Temporary Deputy Director, Employee Engagement and Workplace Giving, will lead the employee engagement and workplace giving team and be responsible for managing and growing the workplace giving program to raise critical funding from employees of key corporate partners and prospects in close coordination with the senior leadership on the corporate partnerships team. The successful candidate will have direct experience in deploying employee engagement and corporate social responsibility strategies (from the corporate or nonprofit sectors), business development and relationship management experience, an understanding of industry trends in corporate social responsibility and workplace giving, and a successful fundraising track record. Essential Job Responsibilities WORKPLACE GIVING PROGRAM STRATEGY, PLANNING AND OPERATIONS Develop and lead the employee engagement workplace giving team's FY26 global strategy and workplan in consultation with the Senior Director of Corporate Partnerships, focusing on growing workplace giving revenue and building Mercy Corps' profile and influence among global employee audiences. In partnership with the Senior Director of Corporate Partnerships, establish workplace giving fundraising goals and targets for a portfolio of private sector partners in the US and abroad. Collaborate with Corporate Strategic Partnerships Manager (Mercy Corps Europe) and Employee Engagement Officer (Mercy Corps Europe) to grow a workplace giving program in Europe, adapting the US strategy and offerings for a European employee audience. Act as a thought-partner to corporate fundraisers across the US and Europe on the identification and implementation of workplace giving and employee engagement opportunities as part of the broader strategy and success of our corporate high-value partnerships. Oversee planning, logistics, policies and administrative needs related to strategic pro bono volunteer experiences for partner employees. Lead the strategic planning for employee engagement events and campaigns with signature corporate partners. Seek out opportunities to pilot and test new tactics to grow, streamline and improve our workplace giving program and offerings. In partnership with Director of Fundraising Strategy & Services (US) and Development Operations Director (Mercy Corps in Europe), develop and track financial reporting, compile workplace giving metrics and analyze workplace giving trends. RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT & FUNDRAISING Responsible for closing the fiscal year's $2.2m goal in employee giving and matching funds from a portfolio of private sector partners in the US and Europe. Develop and implement new business strategies to grow the workplace giving portfolio across the US and Europe markets. Oversee the management of the portfolio of workplace giving corporate partners and key corporate partner contacts focused specifically on employee engagement and workplace giving. ENGAGEMENT & REPRESENTATION Consult on the creation of engagement and volunteer activities for corporate employee audiences and other stakeholders, if necessary. Provide final review of presentations, event and activity materials, toolkits and other resources for employee engagement and giving opportunities. Represent Mercy Corps at employee engagement and workplace giving events (both in-person and virtually) as a presenter and facilitator. Work across the organization to secure and prepare Mercy Corps program and subject matter experts for relevant employee engagement events and presentations. LEADERSHIP AND TEAM MANAGEMENT Directly manage the Employee Engagement and Workplace Giving Officer (US-based) and the Employee Engagement Officer (Mercy Corps in Europe); set priorities and support team members' daily workflow. Assist team members to set individual goals and manage their efforts toward the most efficient contribution to the employee engagement and workplace giving strategy. Create and sustain a work environment of mutual respect where team members strive to achieve excellence. Knowledge and Experience Bachelor's degree preferred, or transferable work experience and skills. 5+ years' experience in the field of employee engagement and/or fundraising. Demonstrates ability to develop and lead program strategies. Supervisory experience required. Successful marketing or fundraising experience or corporate workplace giving program implementation preferred. Familiarity with the Benevity platform and functionality within the platform for employee engagement. Strong project management skills. Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with professional demeanor. Demonstrated people skills and customer service experience, track record of managing strong professional relationships. Highly organized with a strong attention to detail. Ability to work well independently, in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple priorities. Experience in MS Office, Google Drive and Office tools and CRM database software. Success Factors The successful Deputy Director of Employee Engagement and Workplace Giving will demonstrate an ability to get up to speed quickly, ability to execute upon a strategic vision, resourcefulness, and exceptional interpersonal skills. Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions The position is based in Portland, Oregon or remote and it requires up to 15% travel within the United States.
