Project Engineer About the Role The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing engineering firms, coordinating with key stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to processes and standards to deliver safe, high-quality, and reliable designs. This individual will oversee the design process from concept to Issued for Construction (IFC) stage, serving as the project lead for all design aspects. This role requires collaboration with third-party engineering firms, internal engineering resources, and construction teams to provide essential design information, material quantities, and parameters for successful project execution. The Project Engineer will also ensure that designs comply with contractual, technical, safety, and quality requirements outlined by the Client, Company, and Industry Standards. Key Responsibilities Design Coordination & Management Manage and direct third-party engineering firms to deliver electrical, civil, and structural IFC designs. Coordinate and lead design reviews at each milestone with clients and third-party teams. Oversee technical activities in engineering projects and ensure seamless integration of technology. Serve as the engineering liaison between construction teams, Engineers of Record, clients, and internal engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle. Maintain engineering schedules and budgets, ensuring on-time delivery while effectively managing resources. Review and approve materials for the project, securing necessary Engineer of Record approvals. Ensure design deliverables are received on time to support procurement and project schedules. Maintain engineering document control, including transmittals, RFIs, and associated logs. Construction Support & Value Engineering Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure a clear understanding of design intent and facilitate smooth project execution. Identify opportunities to enhance project value through economic analysis and value engineering, proposing cost-effective solutions. Ensure takeoffs are accurate and complete for material procurement. Review project design changes, assess cost impacts, and communicate implications to project management and procurement teams. Ensure designs incorporate considerations for efficient installation, maintenance, and repair, working closely with Field Operations Managers and Trade Superintendents. Apply for and manage local permits as required by contract specifications. About You Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, or Engineering. Minimum of three years of experience in solar + BESS EPC projects, with strong knowledge of construction sequencing, methods, and materials, particularly in electrical systems. OSHA 30 certification preferred but not required. Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility to take the PE exam is a plus. Skills & Abilities Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio). Experience with Primavera 6 and Microsoft Project scheduling software. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to assess alternative solutions and project risks. In-depth knowledge of solar power plant construction and associated equipment. Understanding of business management principles, including planning, resource allocation, and project coordination. Familiarity with electrical power engineering principles, including equipment sizing, load flow analysis, and power quality assessment.
