Job Description: Position Summary The Vegetation Supervisor plans and schedules the resources for all Vegetation Maintenance jobs, ensuring that projects are completed within prescribed timeframe and cost parameters while meeting or exceeding quality expectations. This includes managing people resources, equipment, material, and project completion timeframes. As part of the planning process, the Vegetation Supervisor will need to travel to job sites to understand the amount of resources needed and the estimated time for project completion. The Vegetation Supervisor will also need to work closely with the Project Manager and each other to determine efficient crew scheduling within overall project timeline. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Preparing all necessary items for crews to begin work each day. Daily supervision of all technicians, laborers, specialists, and subcontractors working in his/her assigned area. Provide direction to crews regarding scheduling and completion of work as efficiently as possible. Provide training to crews on tasks necessary to complete projects as well as required safety protocols. Provide daily feedback and evaluation of performance as well as conduct annual performance reviews. Manage people including hiring, termination, disciplinary actions, recognition and rewards, compensation, and training. Train staff on safety procedures and conduct site visits to ensure compliance, taking any corrective action as needed. Other duties as assigned. Quality System Responsibilities: Assists the Project Team in the development of work plan procedures. Provides coordination of technical guidance on regulatory and code compliance to QC/Inspection personnel based in incumbent's area of expertise. Reviews and approves Material Requisitions (MR) and Purchase Orders (PO) for materials and equipment, when applicable. Reviews Subcontractor's inspection program and inspection reports, as applicable. Safety Responsibilities: Seeks to continually improve workplace safety by attending and conducting workplace inspections, toolbox talks, hazard assessments etc. Stops unsafe work practices and works with site staff to eliminate/mitigate hazards before they occur. Coordinates safety committee meetings and activities including schedule, agenda, minutes, and investigations. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to read and understand plans, material lists, guidelines and meet timelines. Knowledge of vegetation operations. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. 24/7 Operations - Availability for holidays, nights, weekends. On-call duties as required. Must be willing and able to respond within contractual guidelines. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver license and a good driving record are required to drive a company vehicle. Valid Class A CDL preferred. Minimum 5 years' experience in vegetation management. Minimum 3 years' experience managing people. 2 years' experience with production scheduling. Valid Herbicide License Preferred: Core, Right-of-Way, Aquatic. Work Conditions/Physical Demands Capable of working outdoors in all types of weather; reaching, bending, squatting, walking. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time. Use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms. Vision abilities include close and distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
