This remote role requires an active New York law license, with preference given to candidates also admitted in Massachusetts. The attorney will be responsible for handling insurance-related litigation, including fraud investigation, tort claims, and policy coverage matters. While primarily remote, the role may require court appearances within New York, particularly in New York City. Duties: Litigation Management: Handle all phases of insurance defense litigation, from case evaluation through trial or settlement. Legal Research & Analysis: Investigate claims, analyze case law, and draft persuasive legal arguments. Court Appearances: Represent clients in depositions, hearings, and other legal proceedings as required. Fraud Investigation: Work closely with insurers to identify, evaluate, and litigate fraudulent claims. Legal Drafting: Prepare motions, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents. Case Strategy: Develop and execute effective legal strategies to defend insurers and their policyholders. Client Communication: Provide guidance and updates to insurance companies and their insureds. Requirements: Admission to the New York State Bar (mandatory). Admission to the Massachusetts Bar (preferred but not required). Prior experience in insurance defense, fraud litigation, or personal injury law. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing multiple cases. Excellent legal research, drafting, and negotiation skills. Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. Certifications: Active license to practice law in New York. Additional bar admissions (e.g., Massachusetts) are a plus. Skills: Litigation and trial preparation. Insurance law and fraud investigation. Legal research and analytical reasoning. Strong negotiation and client advisory skills. Case strategy and risk assessment.
