Records and Information Specialist I (Administrative) JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for the processing of incoming data and documents. Responsibilities include reviewing, analyzing, and processing routine to complex documents from active and retired members or PERA affiliates. Incoming documents must be verified for accuracy and input into the PERA database. This position can also be responsible for processing PERA member and survivor refund requests. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Monitors numerous work queues and performs data entry to maintain current PERA member and retiree databases Analyzes and processes routine to complex documents received from active, inactive and retired members, including payroll deductions, change of beneficiary, and address change forms Demonstrates proficiency when reviewing and researching database information and electronic documents Reviews and processes routine to complex PERA member and survivor refund requests (Level II or higher) Assists other divisional areas and internal divisions by processing retiree documents including direct deposit, tax withholding and insurance forms Audits the work of team members to ensure accuracy, quality and completion based on specific work queue procedures Communicates with members and retirees in writing to clarify information on documents submitted for entry into the system Researches and annotates scanned documents in work queues Escalates documents as needed to the proper department for additional research or clarification Processes Social Security discrepancy reports and verifies against current database on a monthly and annual basis Reviews and processes member accounts annually that are set to transfer to Colorado's Unclaimed Property. Schedules and prioritizes daily workload to meet deadlines and target dates as specified Participates in training and educational opportunities for ongoing professional development Maintains regular and prompt attendance in the workplace Carries out other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or education equivalent, two years general office experience with one year of data entry experience preferred Basic proficiency using Microsoft Office suite Detail oriented with effective organization and time management skills Knowledge of proper English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation Aptitude for consistent routine and repetitive tasks Ability to comprehend established guidelines and confidence to take initiative in a team-focused environment Ability to manage multiple detailed workloads WORKING CONDITIONS Standard environment with telephone communication, computer operation, and other office machines Long periods of time in a stationary position Occasionally moving and positioning supplies in excess of 20 pounds All employees are expected to present themselves in a professional manner in alignment with the financial services industry HYBRID WORK OPTION Opportunity to work from home up to two days per week.
