Job Description: First Stop Health is seeking an experienced, innovative, and detail-oriented Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and optimize our end-to-end data infrastructure. This role will empower a wide range of analytical initiatives, as well as machine learning (ML), generative AI, and agentic AI projects to drive insights and support product development. You will play a key role in implementing scalable data pipelines, ensuring data accuracy and availability, and setting the groundwork for advanced analytics and intelligent applications. As Senior Data Engineer, you will architect robust data models, build and optimize complex data pipelines leveraging Snowflake, dbt, and Kafka, and enforce data governance best practices. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including data scientists and ML engineers, to ensure our data is well-prepared for training ML models, deploying AI-driven products, and delivering actionable insights across the organization, ultimately enabling us to deliver care that people love. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, service-focused, detail-oriented self-starter that can iterate, create, and define data strategy while continuously refining our data infrastructure for maximum reliability, accuracy, and insight. Responsibilities: Architect, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines and transformation logic using Snowflake, dbt, and Kafka. Develop and enforce data modeling standards and governance best practices to ensure data quality, accuracy, and completeness. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks within complex ETL/ELT processes, optimizing for speed, scalability, and reliability. Demonstrated success in supporting ML/AI initiatives through data engineering best practices"”preparing data for model training, feature pipelines, and integrating data with ML/AI frameworks. Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders"”data analysts, data scientists, and business users"”to translate requirements into actionable data solutions. Mentor and guide junior data engineers, conducting code reviews and promoting best practices. Maintain and improve processes by following standards, policies, and procedures, as well as recommending new approaches. Stay informed on related industry trends, news stories, and the competitive landscape. Requirements: 4-7 years of hands-on data engineering experience, including cloud-based data warehouse platforms (Snowflake preferred). Proficiency with SQL and familiarity with data transformation frameworks (dbt experience strongly preferred). Experience with real-time data ingestion and streaming technologies (Kafka or similar). Experience with ML and LLM frameworks and systems. Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT methodologies, and data governance best practices. Healthcare industry experience preferred, especially in telemedicine, advocacy, or wellness. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, quantitative, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently in a deadline-oriented environment. Advanced level computer skills in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and marketing automation tools. In the first 30 days you will: Familiarize yourself with existing data infrastructure, pipelines, and business objectives. Assess current deployment processes and recommend improvements. Begin implementing minor enhancements to ETL/ELT processes, focusing on immediate stability and reliability gains. Establish relationships with key stakeholders and team members. In the first 90 days you will: Take ownership of end-to-end data initiatives, independently designing, building, and optimizing pipelines using dbt and Kafka. Improve data quality and governance practices, deploying more robust quality checks and implementing best practices. Contribute to the scaling of our data infrastructure, ensuring it can support expanding data sources and business needs.
