Role Summary We are seeking an experienced and versatile Senior Manager to lead Rivian's Cost Engineering function, working within the Purchasing organization to oversee a team of 30 in the United States and India. This position is located onsite in either Plymouth, MI, Irvine, CA or Palo Alto, CA and reports to the Director of Supply Chain Program Management. Responsibilities The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to: Lead the team that assists new programs' early development with target setting guidance and optimized design collaboration by utilizing advanced costing tools and methodologies. Provide aid in new product sourcing with cost estimates and data-driven negotiation support. Control cost creep and optimize variances with targets and estimates in the change control process. Conduct and facilitate annual cost-down planning, assisting in VA/VE activities, gap analysis, and targeting of efforts in the various automotive commodities such as exterior, interior, chassis, structures, electrical, electronics, and assemblies. Collect details and compile data to enable estimation of all production costs considering raw materials, purchased components, labor, burden, overheads, markups, and tooling. Develop and execute a comprehensive cost engineering strategic roadmap: establish should-cost models, support tear-down and benchmarking activities, incorporate progressive software and tools, and lead cross-discipline teams in cost optimization efforts. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain management, or related field. 5+ years of automotive supply chain experience at a Tier 1 or OEM. Proven experience in manufacturing processes required for cost model development for automotive components. Proficiency in navigating CAD models in CATIA or similar software. Ability to interpret and understand design and manufacturing drawings. Practical knowledge of Value Analysis / Value Engineering techniques and strong understanding of financial principles. Desire to be entrepreneurial, ambitious, independent, detail-oriented, flexible and resilient as you lead a team in a start-up atmosphere. Collaborative team member, ensuring effective communication among colleagues, and providing strong contributions to meetings and briefings. Proficiency in strategic thinking and possessing detail-oriented work habits. Preferred Qualifications: Extensive experience in manufacturing, product design/engineering or purchasing. Demonstrated understanding of advanced automotive components (motors, lighting, control units, battery hardware, electric propulsion elements). Proficiency in aPriori or similar digital cost modeling tools. Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $176,200 - $239,500 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
