Lead Cloud Architect needed for a contract role to be located HYBRID to Princeton NJ, 3 days a week. This is NOT open to 3rd party candidates. We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Cloud Architect to design and implement robust cloud solutions, while also leading and mentoring a team of cloud engineers. In this senior role, you will have the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of our cloud operations, optimize cloud performance, and ensure the ongoing reliability and scalability of our cloud infrastructure. Position Overview The Lead Cloud Architect will play a critical role in designing and implementing new cloud solutions that align with business objectives, while also overseeing the operational aspects of our cloud environments. You will lead a team of engineers responsible for deploying, optimizing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure. This role combines strategic architecture, leadership, and operational excellence to ensure the success of our cloud initiatives. Key Responsibilities Cloud Solution Design & Implementation : Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions that meet business requirements and industry best practices. Team Leadership : Manage and mentor a team of cloud engineers, fostering a collaborative environment, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring high-quality execution of cloud projects. Cloud Operations Optimization : Oversee and improve the operational aspects of cloud environments, focusing on performance monitoring, incident management, and ongoing cloud optimization efforts. Cloud Strategy & Innovation : Define the cloud strategy and roadmap, staying ahead of industry trends and leveraging emerging technologies to optimize cloud architecture and operations. Monitoring & Support : Develop and implement proactive cloud monitoring strategies, ensuring that systems are performing optimally and issues are resolved in a timely manner. Governance & Best Practices : Establish cloud governance frameworks, ensuring that all cloud solutions are secure, compliant, and cost-effective. Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, security, and business stakeholders, to align cloud solutions with organizational goals. Incident Management : Lead efforts to resolve cloud-related incidents and ensure that root cause analysis is performed to prevent recurrence. Continuous Improvement : Promote a culture of continuous improvement by assessing existing cloud solutions and recommending enhancements to meet evolving business needs. Qualifications Experience : 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Proven expertise in designing and implementing cloud solutions, with a strong focus on operational excellence. Experience leading cloud engineering teams and driving cloud projects from conception through delivery. Technical Skills : Strong experience with cloud monitoring and performance optimization tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, Datadog). Expertise in cloud security and operational best practices (e.g., cost management, incident response). Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Azure Resource Manager templates. Deep understanding of cloud governance frameworks and compliance standards. Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for cloud environments. Soft Skills : Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and mentor a diverse engineering team. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a strategic mindset. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Preferred Qualifications Cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect). Experience in multi-cloud environments and cloud migration. Familiarity with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) and microservices architecture is a plus.
