Location: Flexible (San Mateo, CA) - This role requires proximity to the San Mateo office for periodic meetings and lab work, with flexibility to work remotely with manager approval. The Role GoPro is seeking a top-tier Principal Electrical Engineer to join a team working to ensure that our world-class products continue to outpace the competition. You'll work with our highly professional, experienced design team and help GoPro advance the technology for high performance, small form-factor, ruggedized cameras. What You Will Do Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary electronics design team to develop new product architecture. For example:Remote camera devices High speed serial/parallel interfaces Integration of complex 3rd-party designs with GoPro architecture Power distribution Focus on re-purposing existing camera applications to diversify GoPro's product offering. Production of Proofs-of-Concept (POC) demonstrating new techniques and applications. Develop above POCs into manufacturable products. Work in close contact with JDM partners to complete these designs and manage it into final production. Supervise design work in remote locations (e.g. Australia) to ensure architectural integrity with GoPro existing designs. Skills We're Excited About 15+ years of experience in electronics design - experience of design for consumer products essential. High level software/hardware integration experience is essential. Wide experience in video, audio, RF/Wireless and high-speed design required. Solid grounding and proven experience in power conversion, distribution, optimization. Experience with battery-powered products desirable. Ability to work in a fast-moving environment. Adaptable to collaborate in all aspects of a project. Specification, design, bring-up, transition to production, support etc. Ability to quickly turn-around prototypes to prove own designs. Ability to write rudimentary firmware to support own designs. Experience of working with semiconductor manufacturers to maintain relationships. Also to select, design-in and prove design for complex components. Actual pay within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including your residence location and prior work experience.
