We are currently seeking a Procurement Engineering Design Manager with a BS degree in Engineering to work out of our McLean, Virginia office. This position will allow individuals to gain valuable experience in the international construction industry, specifically in the construction of U.S. Embassies abroad. An active secret level security clearance is required for this position. PRIMARY FUNCTION: Primary U.S. based project point of contact with client and Architectural/Engineering design contractor. Coordinates with architects and all specialized engineers working on a specific project or projects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with a team, responsible for conducting take offs and procurement of all the material required in the classified space of a project. Work with HR and the project manager; responsible for staffing of the classified space of a project. Responsible for ensuring the classified space of a project remains on schedule and budget. Track Coordination and review of engineering deliverables for the entire project. Create periodic status reports. Coordinate team meetings. Communicate needed decisions and issues to management/client/project team. Support project teams/client with documentation as needed. Assist in the preparation of new project proposals. Participate in client/engineer meetings and resolve client/engineering and management project issues. Coordinate with the design build team from contract award through issuance of construction documents. Responsible for coordination of design/procurement for a project. Interface with the client through submittals, RFI's, and change management. Coordinate and facilitate the procurement process to ensure materials are received according to schedule. Apply engineering judgment and construction knowledge to ensure adherence to scope of work, schedule, and specifications. Assist in the preparation of project deliverables, in the development of a project bill of materials and preparation of packages and issues for supplier quotation. Contribute to internal or external technical meetings. Improve the quality of service to achieve best value and best practice. Perform Procurement engineering evaluation, commercial grade dedication, and item equivalency evaluations in support of site operations, maintenance, and engineering departments. Provide field and engineering experience expertise to the procurement officers. Provide support & information to all project levels. Assist in the development of engineering solutions. Represent the company to the United States Government. Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related field. Four to Five or more years of relevant experience. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications. Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. An active secret level security clearance. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: International construction industry experience interacting with various diverse cultures. Previous design/build experience. Construction management/project controls experience. Knowledge of AutoCad, Primavera P3 or higher. PHYSICAL JOB DEMANDS: Reaching above and below, stooping and bending. Lifting/carrying/moving 1 to 15 pounds of weight in the form of paper, boxes, files, etc. Manual dexterity to operate office equipment, filing, and perform specialized skills. Requires a high degree of concentration in a busy office environment. WORKING CONDITIONS: Office environment. Flexibility with hours is required.
